Was she rude? Yeah, especially since she starts by saying she liked him. Being so dismissive of someones ethical choices is kind of a F'U. It's like if someone confided they were trying to lose weight and ordering a big dessert.
On the other hand, I think he should simply say goodbye and leave it as being told who they are
