Finding a vegan-friendly suit (especially a good quality one) is a lot more difficult than I first thought it would be. Most materials contain some percentage of wool, or cashmere, or mohair, a lot of linings are silk-based, and (according to a fairly helpful salesman) the substance used to bind the lining to the outer is very often made of horse hair.

So I thought I'd start a thread in case anyone has some vegan-friendly suit resources they can share :)

Horse hair?! Ah, the things we learn ...

The problem with a lot of vegan suits is they make you look like a damn hippie. Not that there's anything wrong with hippies, of course! :-)

Are you shopping for the wedding, Aery? (Or did you already get married - I forget when it was supposed to be.) I ended up with an off-white linen suit for my own wedding a couple of years ago.

Yep! But I thought a separate thread would be useful, because I'm sure there are plenty of vegans out there who have to wear suits for work and other events, and the lack of options in a lot of places was astounding. It's the one time I've actually been grateful for women's clothing! I've had no problems finding vegan-friendly professional attire :P
