There isn't reason for most people to memorize the entire list, since many of us are probably already familiar with a lot of the items. Also a lot of them have both vegan and animal-derived forms. The main point is to determine the source of origin in a particular product, which the name alone can't always tell you. Rather than avoid all ingredients on the list it would be more beneficial to support companies that use vegan versions of them. That involves contacting the retailer and manufacturers to trace the origin.
