There are sooo many new apple varieties i wonder if the names aren't just regional? I haven't seem Sensa, but I really like one called Cosmic Crisp that's also crisp without being too hard, and just the right sweetness. I'd say like a good Empire, which I haven't seen this year at all
I've been having Trader Joes toasted organic rolled oats with flax and blueberries. Not cooked, but just added enough hot water to cover at eating
Dinner was a tomato on whole wheat with my mayo, & black pepper.
Empire is one of my favorite varieties, too, along with Cortland, Golden Delicious, and Stayman Winesap. But I won't turn my nose up at any apple.
I haven't seen "Cosmic Crisp" yet. "Evercrisp" and "Honeycrisp" are very popular in my area- I've had a few and they
are good, but they're appreciably more expensive around here than most other varieties, and I don't think they're better than other kinds. For a short time I was actually doing a list of different kinds of apples I've had, with comments, but I got kind of overwhelmed. I'll probably start it again this season, just for fun...
(Red) Delicious, Fuji, Gala, McIntosh, Gold Crisp (or something like that- I got a few a bit more than a week ago, and they were good), Braeburn, Granny Smith, Jonagold, Mutsu, Pink Lady, Northern Spy, Jonathan, Rome, Arkansas Black, Idared, Cameo are varieties this one orchard in my area has. (I "Googled" apple varieties and found names I'd forgotten).
I love apples. And pears (especially D'Anjou- but Bartlett, Bosc, Red Anjou, Red Bartlett, and a few others I can't remember are good too!).
