Woman wishes for dog to be killed

I saw this on FB...I hope they find a way around it. :(

I hope all the vets they check with refuse to do it.

Unfortunately, this isn't that unusual. I know someone who has an elderly relative who wants the same thing done with her dog when she dies. The dog is also elderly and scared of everything, so she's afraid of what'll happen to him if she dies first and he ends up in a shelter.

This link didn't work for me but if it's the same case that I saw on FB they did find a vet willing to do it. :(

I had an elderly neighbor who died in 2007. I learned that she had wanted her cat euthanized after her death, but fortunately the same neighbor who told me about it said he'd take the cat. Whew.

It's a perfectly justified fear. Older animals have a hard time getting adopted. Often what happens is that they end up in a shelter, where they are confused and terrified until they are eventually put down anyway, with much less gentleness than if the same thing were done at a vet clinic.

When something like this hits the news, a lot of offers come in to adopt that particular animal, but the people who are interested in the particular animal who has been in the news somehow aren't in the least bit interested in all of the other animals in need of homes.

Most of my animals wouldn't be adoptable, so what will happen to those who outlive me is a very real concern of mine.

I'm very worried about what will happen to mine if I die first, but I do not want them killed.

I can understand about the elderly lady, since her dog is very old and has health problems, but it isn't right for younger, healthier animals.
