Not sure what you mean by "our war criminals" but people captured by the U.S. have certainly endured harsher conditions than those Manning has been subjected to. That said, I do believe Manning's treatment does warrant the term torture.

I voted for Obama, but only as the lesser of the evils. It seems he has an area of his consciousness that is simply amoral and opportunistic. Sort of a Dr. Jeykll and Mr. Hyde.

Does everyone forget that the President doesn't directly order everything that goes on? You won't find a single President under whose presidency there wasn't some horrible thing done, if not plenty.

Manning's situation has been going on long enough and with sufficient publicity that it is reasonable to hold Obama himself responsible for failing to mitigate the harshness of the behavior toward him.
