Brexit has given voice to racism:

The EU referendum result has perhaps emboldened racists by leading them to believe that the majority agree with their views on immigration and legitimising such public expressions of hatred. For this, the political elite must take responsibility, after stoking a divisive referendum campaign that demonised immigrants by spreading fictitious scare stories, all the while pandering to the lowest common denominator.

The loudest supporters get the majority of publicity. But these racist scumbags would be acting this way regardless, because Brexit won. And for them, that means making the UK white again.

We will see a similar response in the United States if Trump wins.
 
I found on my facebook feed this morning an "upbeat" article from the "Independent" about the benefits of immigration (from Europe or other countries) to Britain and the NHS specifically.

What immigration really means to Britain in one picture

After reading the article and the comments on it, however, I think that the problem in the UK might be much worse than I actually thought.

Nearly every commenter used thinly veiled (or not veiled at all) racism to denigrate the positive message of the article.

Now how to interpret this?

- Are racist people more vociferous than others?
- Have non-racist people stopped to care and just ignore it?
- Or have "normal" people come to accept racism and consider it as normal behaviour?

The Daily Mirror is a fairly left wing newspaper and they want the Labour party leader to resign.
People are worried that if there is a General Election called that the Labour party will be wiped out if he stays as leader. They could lose 100 seats. Jeremy Corbyn has lost over 40 members of his team.

People think that Corbyn was very weak in his support for Remain and that he is unelectable as Labour leader.

Of course he was weak in his support for remaining in the EU, for the very simple reason that Corbyn is a more proper socialist who can easily see that the EU is not some kind of lefty charity, which some people seem to believe. A big part of what the EU is about is removing barriers for free trade, in other words a tool for the international capitalist class to make more profit off the backs of decent, hardworking people on low wages. Free trade means governments can't subsidise or own businesses, which is why we can thank the EU for the privatisation of state-owned institutions, like what happened to e.g. the Royal Mail and similar postal services in other European countries.
 
I've voted for the Labour party for almost all of my voting life so it is a bit disconcerting that they may be destroyed with what is happening now. I think that JC being Labour leader has really made me consider my views and how I vote as I didn't realise there were so many financially incompetent and inept people on the hard left. I'm not sure who to support at this point.
