You would obtain the same result. Cider vinegar has a mild taste and you can't tell the difference as you would only need a few drops. It is the only vinegar I ever use for making vinagrette sauces.
Recipes I have used always use soya milk +1 tsp cider vinegar in placement of buttermilk. I've never actually used buttermilk pre-veganism so I have no idea if it tastes the same, but the results have been good in their own right
