For those of you who do food photography, what are your best tips & tricks to make the pictures look good? (Unless you consider that information trade secrets!)

It seems lighting is something that many struggle to get right. How do you do that properly, especially if it's at night time with no natural light from outside?

I used to do a lot of food styling and gave it up because it was a/ expensive b/ time consuming. When you really get into it is quite tedious to end up with a perfect result. Moreover, I would end up eating a warmish/cold meal.

I still have a problem with lighting when taking photos when there is no daylight. However, during the day, I make sure that I have a lot of natural lighting so usually take the photos during the afternoon.
