George Zimmerman trial

The attorney who helped murder defendant George Zimmerman win a controversial acquittal last month was frustrated to learn his client toured a gun factory on Thursday.

“We certainly would not have advised him to go to the factory that made the gun that he used to shoot Trayvon Martin through the heart,” Shawn Vincent, a spokesman for attorney Mark O’Mara, told Yahoo News. “That was not part of our public relations plan.”

Sounds as though his legal team is a bit fed up with George.

“Every criminal defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty,” [Robert Zimmerman] wrote to Yahoo News. “When a defendant is acquitted the presumption of innocence is maintained in our society. George is a free man and as such is entitled to visit, tour, frequent or patronize any business or locale he wishes.”

Pretty much this. ^ It doesn't seem that GZ nor the weapons company intended for any of that to become publicized, but yeah it was definitely not pragmatic given the risk of it becoming a story.

Comments filled with a lot of jumping to conclusions based on limited information as usual. And some really overt racism. Gross.

"Some really overt racism"?! I would say an awful lot of really overt racism.

I think that we are fast approaching some really dangerous ground as a nation. I haven't seen this much overt ugliness since the early civil rights movement.

Not pragmatic, and uncomfortably celebratory. I don't think that Zimmerman feels any regret at having killed someone.

Funny.

I'd explain the difference in meaning in the two grammatical usages, but you're probably smart enough to figure the difference out yourself.

Some of the comments are ugly but so is the act itself.

We need to stop calling teens of this age "children" and try them as adults when they commit adult crimes.

How about we call them "teens" and evaluate things on a case-by-case basis?

You are old enough to know better by that age, or you should be. We put dogs down for much less. Sorry, I don't buy that by 15 or 16 you don't know that killing someone "because I'm bored" or beating an old man to death is wrong.

But you may be still young enough to change.

You can't change a sociopath no matter how young. And if you are killing someone because you are "bored" like the little bastards who killed the jogger, there's a good chance you're beyond hope.

At what age do we quit giving killers a chance to "change"?

One of the people featured in this documentary is an ex-con who spent time in prison for murder. I sat in the front seat and filmed him driving and talking, and he didn't kill me.

Looks like little Georgie is on a suing spree; first NBC and now the State of Florida. Although I think Florida deserves it for having laws that let murderers walk free.
George Zimmerman will ask the state of Florida to reimburse him for as much as $300,000 in expenses he racked up successfully defending himself in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, NBC News has learned.
Zimmerman and his legal team believe they are entitled to the refund because Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder July 13 for having shot and killed Martin, 17...

Also, most people aren't done growing when they're teenagers.

Unless George Zimmerman kills them.

But anyone can change. I've known people to change for the better in their 30s, 40s, even 50s.

I can't believe the way people want to hang Zimmerman but give murderous teens a second chance. Unreal. It doesn't appear GZ set out that night to commit murder. The teens did, in both recent cases.
