Nutrition & Diet How Sugar Causes Depression-Anxiety

Wow, that's cool, shyvas. Thanks for posting that. I do tend to eat a lot of bananas. I just wish berries weren't so pricey. I have a hard time forking over nearly $5 for 6 or 8 oz. of blueberries or raspberries. I love them so much, though. :D

I also like berries and make the most of them during during the summer season. I usually buy frozen blueberries and frozen raspberries as they are much cheaper than fresh ones.

Interesting reading on the links above. I eat some sugar, but far less than I used to.

I hardly eat sugar at all anymore which is a damn site less than I used to . As children my cousins and I were regularly fed sugar sandwiches for tea..and on special occasions sugar and jam sandwiches. All on thin slices of white processed bread of course :yuck:

I have also given up sugar on a daily basis and allow myself a small treat from time to time. I use stevia when baking or making desserts.

I must say that it has made a world of difference to my health. I don't have as many migraines and feel less anxious and tired. My skin also looks better and smoother as sugar tends to be inflammatory and gives you a puffy face.

I manage to cut back on sugar in the form of sweets/snacks/junk food for a few weeks but i always end up falling off the wagon. I don't think I've lasted long enough to really feel a difference but I know and believe that reducing my intake is a good thing.

When I have my daily tea and coffee, I always need the real deal so I try to keep the snacking to a minimum.

I feel like a cigarette smoker trying to quit smoking. :(

It's not an easy task to give up sugar as it is highly addictive.

I use a few helpful tips that seem to work for me. I make sure that I have a protein and healthy fat breakfast and always have some kind of snack food on hand. It is either a few nuts, celery sticks or a small wedge of apple with either almond or peanut butter, a spoon of virgin coconut oil or guacamole with vegetables. I steer clear of caffeine drinks (except for my daily cup of coffee for breakfast) as they tend to trigger sugar cravings.

The following book ; The Sweet Poison Quit Plan also seems to be popular with sugar addicts and has some very good reviews on Amazon.

I've been using the "sweet leaf stevia" for all my sweet needs.I use it in coffee from an eye dropper,or in recipes in powder form. It's a perfectly natural herb that I'm even growing on my balcony....I think we need to take a deeper look at all of the natural options when choosing a sweetner.

I'm not a fan of Sweet Leaf and prefer Nunaturals. I have the quick dissolve tablets, liquid and powder form which I use as a sweetener for coffee, herbal tea, yogurts, fruit and baking.
