I can't be vegan :

I would like a decent vegan sub for Mars Bars.....and all the other bars too....Boosts, there was one of my weaknesses.

The Twilight, Buccaneer and Jokerz bars are so nice, :lick: but they are expensive annoyingly. Hopefully when more people turn vegan the prices will come down.

Everyone can be vegan! Have you tried vegan baking?
Everyone can be vegan, but some people can't get the b12 they need on a vegan diet, even with supplemented food, sublinguals, etc., unless they want to get injections every couple of weeks. It works in terms of staying alive and healthy long enough to procreate, but some peoples' ambitions are a bit greater than that. But yes, kudos to vegetarians and vegans. Every one.

Saying you love a particular type of food is far from being silly. The op was just stating a fact and a preference for a certain type of food. Being sincere is far from being 'silly' imo.

Saying one cannot be vegan because of love for a particular food that is unnecessary to be healthy and thrive is silly to me. Furthermore the use of the word "can't" is silly, and should be "don't want" instead. I love cheese but am lactose intolerant and cruelty intolerant so I can't eat cheese, is a silly statement I make but it is true :)

Mod Post

I would like to reiterate that this is a support forum for vegetarians. Using words like silly are not helpful. Furthermore they do not encourage vegetarians to be able to express their difficultes.
Any further comments that are inappropriate will be deleted.

I find that dark non dairy chocolate and bars are far more better, however little as much you can vegan is a start... I am starting with this in the coming weeks as I get rid of dairy out of my diet.

I don't mind too much that they're expensive. It's the only thing that keeps me from eating them by the handfuls.
I want them cheap so I can eat them by the handfuls without going broke
I can't be the only one here! ;)
If they get too cheap, feel free to send me some so you don't eat too much :weird:

I gather that you are in the US ? Have you ever tried to make your own dairy free desserts ?

I make my own ice cream and just add a large quantity of non dairy cream to make it thick and creamy.

Yes. I usually make fruit salad using non dairy cream. ;)

:yes:Indeed! Coconut milk ice cream and almond milk ice cream are so much better than dairy ice cream.
Gil- you really need to try these! There is so much variety in flavors and different products.

Check out these links:

If you try the alternatives and still can't give up dairy, then maybe the focusing on the cruelty factor will help you? Here are some very graphic links that show the horrific pain, torture and death that the cows endure in order to produce the ice cream and chocolate.

hmmm.. Interesting.. Thanks for the info ;) ..
it's painful to see animal suffering.. I really can't look at it. No No No

Thank you so much for all your links and advise guys. You are a big help! I am very sorry for the title if I make anyone upset. I know I can go dairy free, I just have to have the strong will. In the first place I actually don't like the taste of milk even when I was still an Omni, it's one of the big factor why I have this calcium deficiency.. Yes desserts are tempting especially if it is already in my plate but with these alternatives you've given me I know I can enjoy it much more without worrying. I will just make my own dairy-free desserts or buy a sorbet when there are gatherings.

Curious about this though...have you been diagnosed by a doctor for being calcium deficient?

Yes. I usually make fruit salad using non dairy cream. ;)

I also like frozen berries with either soya cream or Oatly (oat cream) and a few drops of liquid stevia.

Don't worry about the title ; nobody is upset.

It's an easier journey for some than it is for others, so it's important that you ask for help if you need it. Keep us posted on your progress, especially if you find or make something that you really like! :)
