I voted!

Tuesday for me as well...before work if I get up early enough.

Allow Nate Silver to calm your nerves. Mr. Silver accurately predicted the winner of 49 of 50 states in 2008, and every Senate race.

We voted at a library that's not our usual polling place (the Cuban-American Club, I kid you not, lol) and they swiped my drivers license, and the machine printed out the appropriate local ballot. I preferred the computer voting machines they wasted millions on and then trashed the very next election cycle.
Does you state require state ID?
I'm in Ohio, where ID is not required. The right wing "True the Vote" is sending letters basically threatening people that they've been targeted for voter fraud, and should be prepared to bring ID.

They require a photo id with signature, so something like a student id or something similar is permissible. It didn't used to be a requirement, you just said name and address. I was surprised at all the high tech stuff this year.

Florida has had issues this year, too. Some registered republicans have received fake letters telling them their registrations are not verified by address or something similar.

I was going to say something reassuring about how after Reagan beat Carter in 1980 things didn't really change that much , but I realize they really did, so nvm. :(

I thought it wasn't a requirement. That they could ask you for ID, but couldn't stop you from voting if you didn't have it.

That could be, they were telling everyone to have IDs ready, but I didn't hear anyone saying they didn't have an ID.
ETA: I was curious, so I looked it up. Each state has its own laws.

Florida: The clerk or inspector shall require each elector, upon entering the polling place, to present a current and valid picture identification as provided in s. 97.0535(3)(a). If the picture identification does not contain the signature of the voter, an additional identification that provides the voter's signature shall be required.

I live in a very, very red state (I see romney/ryan signs everywhere, etc.) so maybe I'm more nervous than I should be - but yes, I'm very nervous.

Nate Silver uses math and science:

Spang, I hope you're right about Silver being right.

I'm nervous also. It ties my stomach up in knots, so I'm trying to keep my mind distracted.
