I voted!

I'll be watching one of the propaganda machines -- whichever one has the most relevant info on the screen -- on mute.

Trying to decide if I want to go out or just stay at the houe If I stay at the houe what should I watch it on?

The regular stuff. Winterfest was already on the shelf -- not a fan. Oktoberfest is really good, though.
Well, Sam Adams, election day, they do seem to go together.

I drove by 3 polling places, no lines at any of them. Reports are that early and absentee voting is way up here though (Florida.)

I always get drunk on election night... somehow it makes watching the returns come in a little more bearable. :p
I left work early, both to vote in the afternoon, and a job interview!
I'm back from interview, which went really well, and just opened a beer that's been in the fridge for weeks!
Yep, drinking on election night is tradition here!
Wish it were a friday...I'll be up late with all kinds of nerves!

I'll be voting on Tuesday in the morning and then driving up to my mom's place to take her to her polling place. The woman has Alzheimer's and I'm sure there are folks who feel that her vote shouldn't count, but she definitely knows who she wants to support, and voting is something that allows her to feel like she is still a contributing member of society.

Her vote should count. My dad voted in the early stages of AD. Long-held beliefs (such as political persuasion) are one of the LAST things to go with AD so no reason she shouldn't vote. My dad needed help the last time he voted because they go back and forth here between paper ballots and electronic voting it seems and the new-fangled machine was confusing, but he definitely knew who he wanted to vote for, all the way down the ballot.

I agree, as long as they have a mind to understand who and what they are voting for they should be aloud.

My mom is not bad off yet, just slipping. I took her last week to avoid the crowds. She seemed to be happy and know what she wanted to vote for. After she asked why they put in such difficult wording, it confused her. (confused me a bit also, so I don't blame her) Sister N also talked to her a bit before hand also.

Good for you, SB! My mom still lives in my hometown... about an hour away from me... and the population is so small that they were all excited that they were gonna break 100 voters today! So nobody was too upset when it took mom twenty minutes to cast her vote.

I went to the polls with my daughter today even though I had already voted. I overheard two poll workers discussing someone assisting a relative with a ballot. They said the rule was that no one can go in the booth with the voter, and this one woman was apparently trying to help her elderly mother with the 12 amendment, 3 legal sizes pages long ballot, and they had chastised her.

I of course had to pipe up and ask what about absentee ballots? Anyone could fill that out, so why have outdated poll laws when we don't even have voting booths any more, they are 12" high cardboard dividers perched on rickety tables. How could someone accompany a voter into that, anyway? The poll workers looked as if they had sucked on a lemon and the woman said that people should request absentee ballots, then. Then my daughter was done, so I left, I'm sure to their great relief.

I finally voted. :)
There was a tea party table set up outside with a handwritten sign saying 'tea party voting guides'. The invitation was too great, and I couldn't resist it. I went over and got one, I told him I needed to know who not to vote for. :D Then we had a very interesting (and enjoyable for me) conversation, which didn't go in his favor. I think that's the most fun I've ever had voting.

I'm quite happy that I was in and out in 15 minutes. I hate it for people in busy areas who have to wait for hours to vote.
