I thought it would be good to have a thread for vegan products that people would like to try and haven't had yet.

Last weekend I bought some soya chaap from an Indian grocer that I am going to try out this weekend. From what I can gather, it's a kind of cross between soya and wheat gluten

I wasn't fond of this. The texture threatened to be meaty but was too soft. It was uncanny valley territory. I managed to eat half my curry but had to throw the rest away.

Beyond Meat's Sun Sausage

This is a new product and I think this is something we all have been waiting for.

An alternative meat that allegedly puts good taste over resembling an animal based product.

It distinctly added that the "new product is not intended to replicate beef, pork or poultry but rather be its own delicious, satisfying protein option." And it comes in three flavors: Cajun, Pesto, and Pineapple Jalapeño.
I really want to try the Pesto,

BTW, the source of this article looks like a good place for Vegan News.

Ok, but I want it to be sausage flavored 🙄 , I've never wanted anything to taste like meat, but have the seasonings and texture. Like, you know, Beyond Sausage!

Well there are plenty of plant based products that attempt to taste like sausage.
Beyond Brats are pretty good. My favorite is The Field Roast Apple Sage Sausages.

Not as many as there are veggie things that don't have the taste or texture!
Just saying.....I liked to see Beyond and Impossible be more like junk food vegan. Let the Praegers, Earth something, I don't even know because if I want a veggie thing I'll make it myself!

I've not tried the Beyond Sausage. I like the recipe from PPK, but it is lacking in the greasiness that comes with the flesh version. Not that I mind that too much, and if I want it to be all junky, I'll fry it in a little oil. :D

That said, I'd like to try the Beyond Sausage and maybe the new one, as I do like veggie flavors in protein, too.

That's what I do too.

I find beyond sausage to be very greasy. I loved it when I first tried it and I was never an animal sausage fan. But the last two times I had it the texture was off. It was too soft, no matter how long I cooked it. So I get tempted occasionally to try again but then decide against it.

try field roast - apple sage - it s my favorite,

most of the time I eat is as a convience food. on a roll with mustard and saurkrout. maybe with baked beans and/or an ear of corn.
But I like having it as an ingredient on a pizza (with mushrooms and olives) or in a hot pot or a skillet with peppers and onions

I really like field roast but only the original (plain) flavor. Of course, it's been several years since I've been able to find them. All I ever see is the apple sage unfortunately. I can't even find the Tofurky plain sausage/kielbasa...only the Italian seasoned ones. 😞

Do you know if that was after they switched to avocado oils? I really love those Italian links, but can't have the avocado :worried:
I think I've had the Impossible ones and like them too.

I think Field Roast is too much like homemade seitan sausage.

You did just remind me of a can of baked beans I've had and now really want!

I don't think they make a plain. just apple, Italian and Mexican
You might try one of their hot dogs. I don't like them that much but thereisnoaccoutingfortast

Maybe they don't make it anymore but I definitely remember having it several times. We are going back several years. I have had the hot dogs and didn't really like them much.

I checked their site and there is no plain. 🤔 I suppose I could be mistaken. I do know I had something of theirs that I liked, but I am definitely in the minority when it comes to liking anything that has seasonings. I just can't tolerate the taste.

If I ever see the hotdogs, maybe I would try them again… Maybe I'm confusing that with the sausage. I could also be confusing plain field roast sausage with the Tofurky plain.
