Is anyone going to face charges for covering this up / knowing about it and doing nothing?
He already died. I suppose there are others though.

I think he will be found guilty on pretty much all counts. If he isn't I will lose what remaining faith I have in the judicial system.
I agree with your assessment and I think the prosecution has done a pretty good job to date. At one point I had read that there were several victims going all the way back to the 70's when Sandusky initially founded his organization to 'help underpriveleged kids' but then never heard more about it. I think that such testimony would prove invaluable as it would confirm that he started the organization with the specific intent of gaining access to young boys.He has 52 charges against him. I think it's likely that the prosecution has included some charges that they probably don't have enough evidence to prove. I think he'll be convicted of enough charges that he's not going to be seen outside of prison ever again, but if he's not convicted of every charge, I'm not going to lose my faith in the justice system. The justice system is built on the government having to prove guilt. That's a good thing.
And the defense is: everyone's lying. http://www.philly.com/philly/news/2..._hear_closing_arguments__then_deliberate.html
Yeah, I'm really glad Sandusky's lawyers went with the 'it's all a big conspiracy' defense as that only serves to help the prosecution.
I also read today that one of Sandusky's adopted sons was ready to take the witness stand against his dad if Sandusky himself testified on his own behalf. I'm not sure why he would place that condition on it, unless he thought that hearing his dad lie on the witness stand would be the last straw and he couldn't bear to hear it. At any rate, after the prosecution told Sandusky's lawyers about the possibility of his son testifying against him, they decided not to put Sandusky on the stand.
After hearing Sandusky's interview with Bob Costas in November, especially the unaired parts that are available now, I can certainly understand his lawyers not wanting him to speak.
I can't imagine what else his defense would be, though. Either the witnesses are lying or he's guilty.Claiming that all the witnesses are lying is going to damage his credibility.
Or he just realized it was the right thing to do - that if all of the others could withstand the public scrutiny and everything that goes with it, he could too.
It's especially hard for a family member to come forward, though - they often lose their entire family over their *betrayal* of the perpetrator. I've seen it happen all too often - even other siblings wwho were also abused will blame the one who comes forward for *destroying the family*.
The fact that the verdict(s) have not come back yet worries me a bit.
I know I probably seem a bit obsessed with this case but people have to understand that for a lot of us this trial provides at least some small opportunity for closure. The striking similarities with the Catholic Church are undeniable... the big organization that seeks to cover up the crimes of it's favored sons... all the boys who never felt that they could speak up for themselves. The outcome of this trial may very well give some people a little bit of peace.
I need to know now!!!
