I noticed old posts cannot be modified by their own posters. Can we please have the ability to delete them, if editing them cannot be done. It feels odd I cannot even touch my old posts in case I want them to be removed or edited out.
It'll be very helpful if you could add this feature. Thank you.

No, there is no option to delete all your posts. This is by design. If members could delete all their posts, it would make existing threads very confusing or impossible to read / understand afterwards. Imagine a member with thousands of posts deleting all of them. It would be a disaster.

But if there are specific posts you'd like to delete or edit, then we can help with that. E.g. if you feel you've given away too much personal information, or you said something you later regretted for other reasons.

Yes but shouldn't the right to delete ones own post take precedence over it being confusing to other members. We can always display a post deleted caption in that place of a deleted post to help with the confusion. Even the data hungry social media companies have the option to delete posts, and so did all the forums I've been in. I come from a paranoid country where the corrupt police and govt have put me under active surveillance due to my left wing political views. To escape surveillance I'm using Tor.
I noticed you are using jQuery and fonts from Google. This is giving me some uneasy moments. If they track me to this forum I'd like to disappear along with my posts.

There is nothing in your posts to suggest that you are engaging in any illegal activity, so I'd be most surprised that you are going to disappear as you have stated. Most police forces have to tackle threats from terrorism and cyber crimes. I wouldn't think that a vegan forum would be under surveillance. Even using Tor doesn't protect you 100% from being traced as it can also be set up by sources that have bad intentions.

If you need us to delete any of your posts, it would be very simple to pm one of the mods. It's part of our job and we are happy to do so.

You don't understand. It's about doing something which goes against the govt main narrative which is illegal. These corrupt people have powers to imprison just because one doesn't conform to their corrupt way of running things and question it. Laws are deliberately vaguely written so that the ones in power can twist it to the way they want. This land isn't the west with the freedom of speech. Besides the less information these highly corrupt characters have about me the better.
If you could implement this basic functionality it would be the most helpful.
Previously I said I'd like to disappear along with my posts. Not I'd disappear.

Thanks.

By far Tor browser is the best I've come across compared to a normal browser+vpn combo. Tor is a hardened browser and highly resistant to tracking.
Yes some tor nodes can be run by the NSA. But my opponent is not the NSA so I'm not worried about them. My threat model is my countrys surveillance infrastructure and the corrupt characters who run them.
I could have sworn I saw jQuery drawn from Google's servers a month back. Now I can't even find jQuery. Now only fonts are being sourced there. This is better.

I don't think all the forums pages are stored in other servers like archive or Google's cache. Once deleted they wont be able to recover it.

It's not about incriminating. The less these corrupt characters know about me the better. You have no idea how unbelievably corrupt these people are. They have no ethics or morals. I don't want these characters to know everything about me.

My only suggestion is not to post any incriminating or too personal info on a public forum.

Like I said the less these characters know about me the better.
I'm using tor, so obviously I won't be posting any personal info.
All the other sites give control over your own data so I thought I'd ask. Please see if it's possible else leave it.

I'm afraid that's functionality I'm not prepared to offer, sorry.

I also think it's a little pointless for the purposes you mention because the forum is constantly crawled by hundreds of different spiders, some of which probably copy every post they find. So even if you delete the posts from here, the information is probably still available to whatever organisations are behind the crawlers and their customers.

I strive to avoid dependencies on third party services as much as is practically possible, if that is any consolation. I'll look into the jQuery and fonts - I thought they were both hosted locally, but I could be wrong.

Yes but no server will have every thread stored. It's practically impossible given the billions of web pages.
Every site gives users control over their own data. Even data hungry social media companies do. It's the ethical thing to do, give users control over their own data. Please see if it's possible.

A month back I saw jQuery and fonts from Google. Now I only see fonts being sourced from there. Yes please delink from Google. Thank you.

I've managed to re-configure the forum software to have the Google Fonts stored locally, so therefore no more requests go to Google.

I don't see any external requests for jQuery, but it's referenced in the code, so I need to check with the developers.

And I've also completely removed Gravatar support, so there are no external requests for avatars.
