The recipe for Lyle’s Golden Syrup remains unchanged too, featuring the same delicious taste that has been loved for generations, and made with just one ingredient at the same factory in East London as it has been since 1883. Our tins are here to stay.'' [Andy_T: bold emphasis by me]

Well, that did not take long...

They finally have changed their logo, from the rotting dead lion with a swarm of bees to a single (supposedly alive) lion and a single bee.

The description of the product was obviously written some time ago before the decision to change the logo was made. Up until then, the company did hold the record for the oldest packing in the Guiness book of records.

They are not promoting dead lions but there is a christian theme that explains why it's dead. Moreover, the bees have made a hive in it's carcass. The new label with the head and a single bees should be more appealing to modern consumers. I must say, that I never noticed that the lion was dead.

I bought a few bars of the above at Gatwick airport (Smiths) for a fraction of the price on their website. I've never seen this creamy chocolate in any of the shops in Brighton and found that it was so good. Not only was it tasty but very creamy. Such a shame that yet another decent brand isn't available in any of the major supermarkets.
