The parents' handling of the situation was extremely poor. They are, IMO, much more at fault than the son was.

The messages the girls in that household are sent, with the emphasis on submission to men, responsibility for their own sexual "purity", and not "defrauding" men by "causing" them to have lustful thoughts, are bound to play havoc with their psyches under the best of circumstances. Being sexually abused by a family member is so damaging in any circumstances, but when you have been taught that you are like a cup filled with the spit of a hundred people if you haven't maintained your sexual purity, that just compounds the damage.

I have been a follower of the Duggar Family for almost 9 years now.... I didn't expect them a perfect family and i knew something was hidden from the public... I can see why they would hide it until recently because people will be going out of control like on Facebook and other social media outlets... I am not excusing what he did but, i think its heartbreaking some people are cruel to comment offensive stuff and hurtful things towards this family. I fear for their lives and i hope they are watchful what they do... I really don't want anything physically too happen too them, i hate to admit that ...

Those two things aren't even comparable though? Wanting social, economic, and political equality is not the same thing as committing/covering up the sexual abuse of minors. Speaking out against one group is not the same thing as speaking out against the other.

There is no neutrality when it comes to abuse.

i meant how i would go about my views....i believe something needs to be done but at the same time I fear for the younger children.... Plus the comments by people are so wicked and vulgar... There is a good way too protest and there is a bad way.

Those younger children should be removed from their home, it isn't safe for them there. It never has been a safe or healthy environment for any of the children to be in.
I wonder if he had been raised in a family where normal sexual thoughts aren't taught as evil, would he have still gone after the young girls who he thought wouldn't be able to tell on him? Did he choose them because they were too young to tell so he felt safe, or was it because he's attracted to them?
Either way I think he needs massive counseling (as probably do all of their children) and should be registering as a sex offender.

The abuser lives in another state than the rest of the Duggars. He is the oldest of the 19 children and has 3 or 4 children of his own. Those are the kids that need to be checked up on, imo.
