TV & Film Stuff in movies and on TV that bothers you

On cooking shows when the cooks/chefs have there hair down and loose around the food. Christina Cooks on PBS drives me crazy, her hair is always down in ugly styles and her recipes suck too.

where does superman keep his costume, and where does he put his normal cloths when he changes in telephone booths? Is the answer SFW?
If I remember right- Clark Kent used to wear his Superman costume under his Clark Kent clothes (kinda risky, I would think). But what I never got was: why did he ever change in a telephone booth?! People could see through the glass what he was doing- no privacy there.

I don't know what he did with his Clark Kent clothes when A Job For SUPERMAN! came up.

Am I the only one who's completely neutral on Costner? :(
Nope. I am too. I saw "Waterworld" (borrowed it from the library) and one scene from "My Bodyguard". I honestly think I could act at least as well as he does (although I doubt I'm as photogenic), but he's not bad enough to annoy me. More power to him if he can turn a pretty face (his) into a paycheck!

Well, he is super fast.
That must have been it!

Too much violence really puts me off watching a film.
Definitely. I have to say that it doesn't really bother me, because it's not real- the news bothers me much more (like those 19 expert firefighters who died in that Arizona fire about a week ago). But... if someone is going to create a work of fiction, whether it's a movie, or book, or play... I just don't see the point of excessive tragedy and violence. Not when real life almost always has plenty of both.

EDITED TO ADD: Maybe Envy and I are polar opposites, in some respects?... :D

Hmm... maybe not... a bad ending doesn't necessarily have to be violent or tragic...

I was watching an episode of Dexter that was edited for day time viewing. The swear words were silenced out (which meant I couldn't hear anything Deb was saying lol), and during a sex scene these big squares were blocking any bare skin it was really obnoxious. But the scene with the dead guy with his skull cut in half and his brain exposed? That was ok apparently. Wtf.

Sorry. I changed it. :p

To something even more obvious? :p

Well, it can also be about that people don't always sort out their problems in the end of the movie.

Every good guy don't have to become happy. Fixing your problems is not magic, it's often something that you have to do for a long time.

If that makes any sense.

Haha no. It's been only a couple days and I forgot it already, that's how unobvious it is.

In the movies, when somebody is rehearsing for a stage production, singing and/or dancing and/or acting, and their performance is really terrible, the director or choreographer is always screaming "WE OPEN IN THREE DAYS!" I don't know anything about stage productions, but do they really have performers who are so awful they still can't get their act together so close to opening night? And of course this results in a longtime movie cliche' - something happens and the terrible performers magically become brilliant by the time the show opens.
When I used to dance, many times things didn't come together until dress rehearsal. Stressful.

Plus we're all dead clumsy. Honestly, it's a wonder we function at all, just flailing our limbs about and screaming all the time. :(

The screaming bothers me a lot. Screaming once is normal if you're startled and it's involuntary, or trying to get someone's attention or something, but taking a breath and just screaming and screaming, with no point?

I've done that before. There was a giant moth in my room. I was trying not to.. but it was kind of scary.

Bad wigs and fake facial hair. I hate it when it's so obvious that someone is wearing a wig and/or fake facial hair. For me, it just distracts from what I'm watching. I know growing it out isn't always practical, but the hair often just looks carelessly slapped on.

I wish there were more movies with bad endings.

I've found watching more world cinema resulted in more movies without happy, everything wrapped up at the end, endings. Which I really like. It's more interesting, less predictable. Hollywood/American films in particular seem to always wrap up in a happy way, even in some cases if the book they're based on doesn't.

Sad endings depress me. Not that I have to watch ONLY movies with happy endings. I don't mind a nice mix of the two, for balance.

In a similar vein, when they age people. really badly. Just get a similar looking old person to play them, it looks more believeable than a ton of latex!

I agree. They did do that in some movies, such as Amadeus and A League of Their Own, to very nice effect, so find an older actor and pay the damn union wage.

And Then There Were None, anyone?
