TV & Film Stuff in movies and on TV that bothers you

Even reading that made me twitch. True story: I had to teach my 26 year old sister what double dipping was, she'd never heard of it before. It was just us 2 eating something so I dont care but I had to explain not to do it in other company, oh dear. Just shows that not everyone is aware!

Someone mentioned cop shows - I hate in CSI and similar the way that they seem to do everything. You are a forensic scientist, get back to the lab. stop interviewing suspects and chasing them - why would you be interviewing suspects?! The show would work just as well as if they had another character who did all the interviewing.

I don't mind that, actually, and it's one of the things I like best about Dr. Temperance Brennan in Bones. She spends a lot of time in the lab but she also interviews suspects and goes to the crime scene and gets information about the crime and the victim that way as well. :)

About double dipping: It's something I try not to do, but it's also something I never thought about until I saw an episode of Seinfeld in which George Costanza is seen double dipping at a party and somebody yells at him about it. Oh yeah, not a good thing to do. :p

Girls in movies all seem to keep their phone numbers written on a piece of paper tucked in their bra. Is this not normal, or am I incredibly naive?

I suspect that when women go clubbing or even just hanging out with friends, they keep slips of paper with their phone number on them stuffed in their bra just on the off-chance that they meet somebody they want to hook up with. :p

Dead people blinking.

When they pretend talking Norwegian, but just makes some wannabe words.

I understand that it's REALLY hard for actors to pretend to be dead. I haven't seen blinking, but I've definitely seen supposedly "dead" characters moving slightly. And breathing, which is hard to control.

And the Norwegian thing, heck yeah. Not just Norwegian but other languages like Arabic. Characters just babbling nonsense words. Irritating.

They always seem to butcher languages they assume most viewers won't know anyway.

Can't remember if I've posted this video before or not. Only the two at the end are good. Phenomenal actually. Laurence Fishburne wasn't too bad. The tones are a little off but the pronunciation isn't horrible and doesn't sound too forced. All the other actors, including a few pretty famous ones who should know better, speak Chinese that ranges from understandable but obviously forced (like they learned that phrase just for that scene like 2 minutes ago) to complete gibberish. When Keanu Reeves was talking it required so much concentration he forgot to move and have facial expressions. Better effort than most of the others, but funny to watch nonetheless.

That's just the way Keanu's face is. It doesn't have expression. Better that way. Emotional expression would ruin it.

The blinking body is in a CSI episode (Las Vegas). But yeah, dead is obvious the hardest part to play in movies. It should start to get on their CVs: "Manage to play dead without blinking, breathing or moving!".

In True Blood, Alexander Skarsgård is talking Swedish for real. But not that great achivement, since he is Swedish. :P It took a little while before I recognized it, as I just wait for the random noicemaking...

I can't believe that actually happens!

I notice in films that aren't filmed in English, there is often English spoken within the film/TV program. I don't know if, when aired elsewhere, that bit is subtitled, but it's always actually English.

For a brief moment when watching a Danish film and English was being spoken, it felt a bit strange, like... my brain didn't quite process that what I was hearing and reading were the same. Maybe because I was it was at the cinema and I was quite engrossed, so I was so into the reading when I heard words spoken along with what I was reading it took a while to realise what was happening.

deus ex machina endings irk me.

As if the writers couldn't think of a real solution, so they just go with a magical or coincidental ending.

The easy/lazy way out...

People in US films and TV always order/eat Kung Pao chicken, is it the most popular dish in the US or something?:p

I know what you mean. Also I have trouble watching films with subtitles because I end up reading the words and working out what they are going to say next, if the language is similar enough to English that I can understand a word here and there.:argh:

When extras people,in the background over act and you end up watching them

I always notice that too.:D
