It's s lovely sentiment, and far be it from me to put a damper on it, but a YEAR of traveling around the world!?!? That's not your 'typical' family.
Still, I love the idea. My Christmas buying list has gotten smaller over the years. And, thankfully, a few friends and I that I had still been exchanging with have decided that starting with this year, we are foregoing presents and
will be getting together for some quality time together where we will share each others company and some good food and maybe even a glass of good cheer.
I am still an advocate of gift giving in general. Sometimes it just seems very fitting. It really depends on the person and the circumstances. What I try to get away from are token exchanges where you are buying some useless knick knack that ends up in a landfill a year later. When I want to acknowledge someone with a little something I try and make it something useful.
I could go back and forth on this all day, really. I'm such a waffler...maybe I should run for office, lol.
