Health Issues The Everything Covid 19 Thread

This evening, about 1.5 hrs ago, i was told by my cab driver, that he had been told by the road police that some woman had died of covid in Kolpino (my hometown). Where did the police dudes get this information?? Is it just another rumour or not?? No info about it so far... It's not nice anyway. Plus, i read in the news, that the case in Kudrovo (a district close to where my sister lives) was confirmed (that woman was positive to covid). There are a few people in Russia, who didn't go abroad, and they were contaminated by their relatives who had returned from other countries, like Austria, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, etc... It was called "a disturbing tendency"...
Only this evening russian government announced that Russia is officially closing borders for all foreigners, except diplomats, those who have to come and bury their deceased relatives, and those who have a transit flight. There are some other exceptions, so maybe it won't work...:pout:

@Nekodaiden - I've gotten the flu vaccine every year, I can't say it caused me symptoms though others have said that. I think I started the year after the swine flu vaccine. The year I got it I was vaccinated, but they said the strain was different than what was in the vaccine- all I know is I've never known so many people to be out of work due to flu, and I very very rarely ever needed a sick day.
I don't identify as vegan. I've been all over the spectrum since I was a teenager, and at many points fit the profile of orthorexia. I was on and off so many times, finally commiting to a life without meat and dairy in my forties. I made a pact with myself to never get so overwhelmed it took over my functioning.
This story sums up how I manage--I had started taking algae dha supplements, and it was the first supplement that honestly made a difference I could feel. I found my attention was better, my focus was better- I lost the scatterbrained, overthinking that I was so often bothered with. They weren't cheap, and I was pinching pennies. CVS drugstore had a sale advertised-- Huge bottle--and buy one get one free! Just the one bottle was more than half the price of anything else I could find--and another one free.....they were in gelatine capsules...... I paced the store. I picked them up and went to the registar...I put them back...went to my car..,.went back in the store....went home....went back and got them.
I had terrible pains in my feet and ankles. Doctors wanted all kinds of expensive tests...long story short... demanded a vitamin D test, really deficient in spite of doing everything to get D naturally, took massive amounts and was better. Even the maintenance dose of 2500 didn't get it high enough and take 5000 iu daily. I realize their is vegan d3, but I fear to change, and again, it's very expensive in those doses, and testing isn't covered by insurance either. Anyway, I manage anxiety all the time. These are things I have accepted that I do that aren't vegan, and it makes it overall far better for me.
I also have two pairs of leather shoes, they're the same just two pairs, that are absolutely perfect for my feet. I have spent sooooo much time in all kinds of stores trying shoes, and have several vegan pairs. The ones that I loved are no longer- even the ones I got preowned on ebay are too worn. But anyway, I have these two and wear them.
I also have 7 cats as I had worked in rescues, and I feed them typical cat food. I don't even want to debate that

Geez! My mom keeps saying ocasionally (she supports the rumours), and even Liza is doubtful about it... they keep saying, that my grandpa died of covid.:wtf:They both keep saying that his symptoms match, and that no one actually ever realized what he died of. When i hear this offensive bulls***, i say, that if it was true, everyone of us would have been contaminated long ago, especially Gala. So much time passed, and no one of those, who contacted him closely, ever got any symptoms. I'm really mad, because they are afraid of ghosts (grandpa is literally and figuratively a ghost now), but they aren't afraid of, lets say, that baby-club, where Liza and David spend so much time, of their acquaintances' houses, of going to work where they meet crowds of people daily, of barbers shops, nail salons, grocery stores, etc., etc. When they start pushing this ooze about an alleged grandpa's covid, i merely want to say: "Blin, just leave him alone already. He would turn around in his coffin if he heard that". Poor grandpa. He died of others' ignorance, and now his death is a reason for rumours. 🤦‍♀️

Ok this might be offense to some. I hope not. But it was on Facebook titled Day 3 quarantine. I laughed. Lol.

Wow, after all this, people will hopefully wash their hands!

As a man, I've seen plenty of poor-hand-washing and non-hand-washing in the public restrooms here in the U.S.

I enjoyed visiting China (my beautiful vegan wife is Chinese), but back in 2010, very few public restrooms in China even had soap. I trust that this has been corrected. Can anyone confirm, empirically?
.

Look at this handwashing report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention!
Link: Hygiene Fast Facts | Hygiene | Healthy Water | CDC

Excerpt:

Handwashing

  • It is estimated that washing hands with soap and water could reduce diarrheal disease-associated deaths by up to 50% 1.
  • Researchers in London estimate that if everyone routinely washed their hands, a million deaths a year could be prevented 2.
  • A large percentage of foodborne disease outbreaks are spread by contaminated hands. Appropriate hand washing practices can reduce the risk of foodborne illness and other infections 3.
  • Handwashing can reduce the risk of respiratory infections by 16% 4.
  • The use of an alcohol gel hand sanitizer in the classroom provided an overall reduction in absenteeism due to infection by 19.8% among 16 elementary schools and 6,000 students 5.

And, bear in mind that diarrheal diseases kill about 2,200 children per day worldwide, per the U.S. Centers for Disease Control:
. This calculates to over 800,000 child deaths per year.

Clean water supplies and handwashing resources/education are things that need our help.

If there's nothing said about work tomorrow I'm just gonna forget about all this sh!t!
All the big heads (Rocko reference!) in meetings all day, we here nothing.

I just ate some spicy pickles and don't feel well

Nobody at my work said anything either. No alcohol wipes are provided, no gloves. The hand sanitizer dispenser was taken down in the remodel and not put back. One of my co-workers brought a bottle of hand sanitizer for us cashiers. One of my customers asked if we had any wipes or hand sanitizer for the customers and I had to say no. :(

Please report this to your local city/county health agency. Provide specific information. A stiff penalty fine will change the company's attitude.

I want to warn people that it may be difficult to find pet food, cat litter, etc.

I don't know whether it's due to hoarding or whether supply chains have been interrupted, but locally there's no cat litter to be found, and when I checked the status of my weekly Chewy order, it's not being shipped because they are out of stock.

I'm not feeling well. Running a fever of 100.8
BTW, I am very high risk. I am over 60 with a compromised immune system.

I've been so careful, too.
It’s starting to cross the line at 100.8 Lou In some ways a temperature is best to run its course it’s how your body naturally reacts to infection. But with your history you might start thinking about contacting your Dr .

I have a phone appt with an RN tomorrow morning. I was in the medical office building today for Hydration and to pick up a prescription. I hope they can check my records and see who had contact with me. I may have infected them.

Darn. Starting tomorrow all my appts are on the phone. Today was the last (for a while) that I saw anyone in person.

You may well not have it. It's possible to run a mild fever just from stress.

Do you have any relaxation techniques you practice?

I had to resort to Amazon because every flavor of the cat food I get on Chewy was "temporarily out of stock." I didn't check on the cat litter, but I will.
