Health Issues The Everything Covid 19 Thread

Once I was having a get together with some people, and afterwards me and this other person started to walk to the buss station and she was so ill that she could barely walk. She got out of breath just by walking a normal speed. Like, go to the hospital, no? She is a smoker, so I got worried that it might have something to do with that. But it wasn't, thankfully. No one still knows what that was and she is fine now, but... I mean, why people don't go to the hospital or even test for Covid or something?
I was also worried that it could be Covid and that now we are all screwed. But at least I didn't get ill, so...
But yeah, I had to contact school and tell them that I might have been infected and I had to test myself several times and it was just annoying as hell.

It's still out there. My oldest daughter gave a ride to a friend yesterday, whose elderly parents (87 yrs old) both have it. The mom was hospitalized for two days but is home now. Both are on the mend. My daughter was a little annoyed because when the friend got in my daughter's car she was visibly sick with chills and cold symptoms but said she had tested negative. My daughter felt like the friend should have given her a heads up that she wasn't feeling well before making plans to go out.

Anyway, the friend tested positive later that day and now my daughter has cold or possibly allergy symptoms. We're hoping for the best and rooting for allergies. Daughter didn't hang out with the friend when they got to the destination just to play it safe. But did have to drive friend home afterward.

That is annoying and a heads up was definitely warranted.

I went to my first family gathering yesterday and was hoping that it was going to be mostly outdoors and it wasn't, although the ceilings were 20 feet tall so that was helpful. Only one person coughed a time or two and so I am also keeping my fingers crossed that nobody there was infected and passed it on.

Has anyone on here got the (5th/6th?) Covid jab? I'm not getting anymore jabs as I think it is only older people getting them in the UK now. I think I mentioned this on here a few months ago.

I was wondering the same. I'm about due for number 5 but haven't heard of anyone getting it.
My husband said he heard a woman getting her jab at the GP but she was over 75.

I did read this a while back online, but don't you think the government has kept this quiet that the rest of us aren't getting them anymore?!

Not sure, but I am going to try to get it yearly with my flu shot. I see in my fb memories I was in the hospital for like 5 days or so with hypoxia, asthma and other lung issues from a common cold (rhinovirus) 5 years ago.

I think I've had three. I don't know that I want to mix it with the flu shot as I'll obsess over aftereffects- like which one did whatever side effect I may get

It's amazing how much this has emboldened anti vaxxers

I had my 5th back in January. I'll be getting my 6th just as soon as I am eligible, next month.

I am not in the UK, but I am an "older person". My lungs were damaged by a pneumonia (not covid-related) that I had last year and I just can't afford to get covid. My respirologist was very clear about that: I am lucky to be alive, and I need to get every covid shot that I can.

I stopped at 2.
Not because I don't think they work, but I don't take the flu jab either. Also I have had Covid twice, and it was far milder than flu for me.
Oh and when Covid was last in the house, I didn't get it, even though it was my partner who had it for a week (and of course we sleep in the same bed).

I didn't mean it in a conspiracy way, lol. It just occured to me that what I read a few months ago is true.

I was on a list to get the Covid jab early as I am considered "vulnerable" due to my health conditions, my husband had his early too as he works in central London, my brother is on the early list too as he works as a psychologist and so is his best friend as he works as a paramedic. I just realised none of us have been offered a new Covid jab! It must just be older people here now.

I read on another forum the other day that we aren't having any more Covid jabs. Someone said her doctor told her. :iiam:
Oh yes, I just read back, March I read that. I don't know anyone who has had a Covid jab.

Wait, I am going to text my friend who is 70 and ask him if he had one this year, he might be too young!

He got back to me. No. He hasn't been offered new Covid jab either, but the lady he cares for was. She is in her 90s, though

I am still a mask wearer

Me too. There are places I don't bother. Outdoors normally, restaurants because I'll be taking it off to eat anyway, indoor spaces that aren't crowded and that don't have a large turnover of people. But I do wear one in grocery stores, Walmart, other crowded places. I even wore one outdoors when I was in a large, dense crowd at a Pride event.

We are going to the theatre tomorrow night and the show has been selling out. So I'll be wearing a mask for sure. I normally wear an N-95 for best protection, but I can't wear one of those for two hours. So I'll wear a plain surgical mask. It's still better than nothing.

oh, ok, you guys got me thinking..
just checked and I'm elliglbe for number 6.

I'm thinking of just waiting till the fall and get it with my flu shot. or maybe if I hear about a new and improved vaccine.

I was at the doctor this morning and I could hear a patient talking in one of the nurse's rooms in front of me while I was waiting. I wasn't eavesdropping, but I could hear. She kept coughing and the nurse was obviously doing some tests on her. The nurse said she had reaction to having Covid and she needed to be on an inhaler for life now. She said this is becoming more common. The patient came out as I had a 20 min wait and she was fairly young.

I think we have had 4 and unless things change substantially I don't think we will have another. I am still a mask wearer in stores and the elevator/hallways of my building - my honey doesn't wear one at all.

I have had three and could get a fourth. I still wear a mask in shops and on public transport. I often feel like the odd one out.
