Health Issues The Everything Covid 19 Thread

He texted me back that she is coughing quite a lot and is trying to isolate from him in one bedroom. He is going to take a Covid test to the other woman they were with on Friday as she is 93. She feels okay so far so hopefully she will escape it too.

Careful, as it can take some time before the test detects it! I seem to remember that was the case for me, at least.
I ended up feeling so sick yesterday afternoon and awful during the night! But I took two tests this morning, different brands, both still negative. 🤔 Today is day five since exposure.

I was also bitten by a tick two weeks ago. I had it tested but the body was damaged so they said if I started to feel symptomatic to call my doctor. I'm waiting to see if she will order a Lyme test without my having to go into the office. I'd rather just go directly to the lab to save time.

My doctor is so annoying. She can never fit me in her schedule but she sent me to urgent care. They are doing a rapid Covid and a pcr that they send out. It's supposed to be more accurate. So I'm sitting here now waiting for a doctor to come talk to me.

@KLS52 I think emergency rooms or urgent care is supposed to be very expensive- but in my experience, doctor's offices are usually booked up for at least days (weeks?) into the future. So when something unforseen happens, urgent care is where you have to go.

I was ready for this damned pandemic to be over... like, three years ago.

So was everyone else, I suppose...

I hope everything works out well for you. Even if it's not Covid, some tick-transmitted diseases can be a problem- so I hope it's not one of those either.

ER's are really only for life threatening situations in Ohio. If you have insurance they will demand proof you risked - not just worried- death or loss of limb or other horrific event. Urgent cares have come a long way- we have them popping up everywhere now! They're good for things like breathing treatments,, xrays, sprains, testing treating infections....Far less cost than ER! Some ERs have urgent care facilities and you need to be sure you know which one is treating you!
I went to a CVS when I had a very mild bout of shingles and got some anti viral pills. I then saw a doctor as I couldn't be sure of what vaccine I'd gotten, and got the new one

I'm so unsure if I want to get the flu shot mixed with covid. I feel they should be separate just in case

The better have the shots separate. I do not want a combined one at all. Plus, you have people who will take the flu vaccine but will not take the covid one. If they are combined they might run the risk of people not getting vaccinated at all.

I don't think that was always the case. I feel like urgent care facilities have only more recently become popular. Doctors' offices would allot some time during office hours for sick visits. But now, they basically overbook all appointments. The way it's become now, a primary care doctor is only available for yearly wellness check ups. When you have chronic conditions it's annoying that you can't get in to your doctor when something comes up. But it's just the way healthcare is nowadays unfortunately. Urgent Care isn't as expensive as the emergency room. I've gone twice now and my UC visits have been covered by insurance. Same for bloodwork.

Oh my gosh 100%.

Thank you. The doctor's office just called and said it can take up to week for results for the tick borne diseases and 48 hours for the pcr covid test. I'm feeling a little bit better. I switched from Tylenol to Advil and it's helping the body aches.

I hope that I haven't caught Covid as when I got off my long haul flight we were packed into a bus like sardines. No ventilation or fresh air and the trip took around 10 minutes to reach the terminal. That is how I caught Covid in Brighton; on one of the buses.

Son in law just tested positive. So weird. The grandkids. Oth had colds a week ago...daughter kept testing them but they've been negative and are better now. So we all just assumed SIL got a cold from the kids. It's s good thing daughter is so vigilant with the testing...she tested the four of them and SIL is the only one positive. So now my granddaughter is the only one in that household who hasn't had Covid yet. I hope she continues to avoid it!

I had a lot of watermelon and some kind of cantaloupe melon...I can't remember the name. They were both really good but I had more than I could eat do I dropped some off yesterday morning. Daughter asked me if I wanted to go inside but I knew my SIL was getting the kids cold so I declined. I wasn't even thinking Covid since the kids just had colds. I'm so glad I didn't go inside! Unfortunately, SIL's mother visited in the afternoon. They warned her about the germs in the house but she didn't care. So now she's exposed. Again. She's had Covid three times!

One of our beach friends has Covid. He's not sure how he got it, but it might have been from a visiting relative. Cases seem to be on the rise. I saw on a Pearl Jam Facebook page that at least a dozen people have said they got Covid after attending one of PJ's recent concerts.

I have a bunch of concerts coming up, including one in Vegas, so I'll be masking up on the plane and at the shows. I'm toying with getting the newest booster, the one the FDA just gave the OK to -- either Pfizer or Moderna. Novavax is still under FDA review and is supposedly a more traditional vaccine, not one of the mRNA ones. I'm still reading up on the new booster, but I'll need to get it by Sunday if I want some protection during my trip.

I've heard on the news that Covid cases are picking up again, too. I was getting lax about wearing a mask- so are most people in my area. But until I decide what booster I should get, I'm starting to wear one in some crowded situations again (like on the bus today, when I went into town to pick up 25 pounds of sunflower kernels).

I’ve done so well with the Moderna vaccine that I’m sticking with that for my next booster. I think I will get my flu shot in the next two weeks or so and then wait two weeks for the covid booster.

While I don't know anyone that has tested positive, There have been quite a few people out sick at work lately, with typical cold/flu complaints.
We will have flu as well as covid shots at work, separate days, so I'll get mine there.
I'm seeing more masks at certain stores-like Aldi- but not at others. I really haven't gotten back to wearing one

SIL is doing pretty good but he has a bad sore throat and cough. He's fine when he takes the Advil but as soon as it wears off he feels pretty yucky again. He said it's not fun and it's not "nothing"...definitely worse than a cold.

SIL is all better!
But daughter just tested positive, lol.
And grandson is starting with the sore throat but so far is negative.

My 97 year old aunt is in the hospital with covid. 😞 So far she’s doing pretty good. 🤞 I’m very curious as to how she got it. Unless she has been to the doctor in the last week, she doesn’t leave the house. Which means someone was either not feeling well and assuming it wasn’t covid, or an asymptomatic person can have it and still transmit it. That wouldn’t be good.
