For me, at few points in my life have I fantasized about money. I never have bought a lottery ticket. It was not something I thought about too much. If I was to have a child, I would teach them there are things much more important than money. My father is the opposite:he gambles a lot, and complains about his financial position frequently. How much importance in your life do you consider money to be?

In my opinion, someone who thinks money isn't important has enough of it!

Money is needed to pay rent/mortgage, bills, to eat, go to the dentist, healthcare (even in the uk you gotta pay for medication on the NHS), etc etc. Without money we'd all be stuffed! I wish it wasnt so important but it is.

Do you support yourself financially without parental or government assistance?

I've been thinking about money a lot lately. Because I want to quit my job as a nurse in less than 2 years and I'm trying to figure out how little I will be able to live on.

I've never been much of an envious person. But yeah, you have got to have money in this world.

I've been obsessing too much about money, mortgage debt, and now recently money after retirement since reading the Money Saving Expert and Mr Money Mustache sites.

Same thing here.
I still have a mortgage and the prospect of having a very low income when retirement knocks on my door. The prospect of not having complete health insurance and money to live a comfortable stress free life when older bugs me.

I spend short periods of time thinking very intensively about how to make money.

I don't think about money at all when putting any resultant plans into action though.

Best bit of advice ever given to me about money, btw ..

Work days to pay the bills.

Evenings and weekends work on something of your own that doesn't limit income to an hourly rate.

Don't change till you earn more in the evenings and weekend than you earn in the day.

When do you (rest) play ? :)

Why is that ?

Kitties have you thought about some phone work? Lots of insurance companies are hiring nurse case managers, often to work from home. The pay is pretty decent, too.

Sad but true.

I'm the opposite of you. When it comes to money , I find myself becoming extremely envious of those that have it. Those reality shows about people who are ridiculously wealthy drive me nuts.
