TV & Film The Walking Dead

I think the producers of the show want us all confused and questioning things all the time. I think this puzzle is a ploy to keep us all talking and hyped up for the next episode!

I was just thinking that when I was looking at the pictures. I'm sure the similarities were done on purpose just to mess with us!
The show really reminds me of Lost. There are so many hints, clues, and unanswered questions that make us draw all kinds of conclusions and theories. Both shows are pretty damn successful at getting people really invested into the show.

YES!! Jeremy and I were discussing this as well. We were big fans of Lost too!!

I'm still curious to know what specifically was wrong with Lizzie. Did they try to make her symptoms match an illness, or did they just leave it open-ended?

The recurring theme (even more so in the comics) is how the apocalyptic world has changed people - its dark effects on human pysche - and how it is constantly pushing people beyond what they ever believed they'd be capable of.

I like Lost much better than TWD, just because TWD is too violent for my taste. I only keep watching it because I want to know what happens. I don't really enjoy myself that much while watching the episodes. Breaking Bad was dark too, but it didn't have as much gore in it. I'm getting tired of watching peoples intestines fall out. So, so gross.

I like both of them just as much, but for different reasons. Gore definitely doesn't bother me as much as it used to.

I admit I used to HATE zombie movies having been traumatized by The Night of the Living Dead when I was a child. But now I have grown desensitized to the gore. When I first started watching TWD, I would hide my eyes on the gory parts and I still do not ENJOY them but I can make it through an episode without hiding my eyes now. :D There is so much more to TWD than the zombie gore.

I was traumatized by that movie as a kid too! I hate all the zombie stuff, I have to admit. (Should be in unpopular opinion thread, I know!)

And The Birds movie omg. Then I saw The Exorcist and later The Omen, and decided no more scary/gory movies for me!

ETA I haven't seen The Walking Dead show and probably never will. I read this thread sometimes though. :)

TWD is not JUST a zombie horror show though. It is more about survival and the human interactions in a horrible world. The humans are much more dangerous than the zombies who are usually quite readily dealt with. And sometimes.... the walking dead are not zombies at all.

I think there's a big difference between the gore on TWD and the gore on shows like Breaking Bad. The gore in TWD is mostly zombie stuff while the gore in other shows like BB are violent human gore. I guess I just see them being different because I see all the zombie stuff as being so fake no matter how realistic looking it is. Maybe it's because I've watched a few of the behind the scenes "making of zombie" stuff?

One thing that is really bothering me is the animal gore and violence. It seems like there is more this season even though all the other seasons had at least one or two scenes with horrible animal deaths.

Hmmm. I guess the gore in BB doesn't bother me too much, except for that scene with the bathtub. For the most part, you die right away. I would rather be shot in the head and have my corpse dumped into a bucket of acid than have a zombie eating my stomach while I'm still alive. *shudders*

Yes, I'm the same way, I do have to cover my eyes with TWD sometimes but I can't stand more realistic violence.

I love horror films but not ones that are very explicit or realistic. I can't watch the Rob Zombie ones, they are too much for me. I even stopped watching Game of Thrones because it was too much now I and keep reading and hearing about that really violent episode and I don't want to know.:lala:

I thrived on horror movies! Couldn't get enough. Now they are too realistic and I can't handle most of them, especially if they deal with devils, evil spirits, possession and the like. I'm wimping out in my old age. And forget anything involving a heinous crime. Can't watch anything with serial killers. But I can watch TWD, lol.

Ok...where did my post just go....

Oh, I see now...I'm sure it was me. I probably had the cursor in the middle of your post and didn't realize, lol. I actually did that once before but caught the mistake before I posted. I should be able to fix it.

I think I see it differently because the human violence is realistic whereas the zombie stuff isn't. People are tortured, brutally beaten, viciously attacked and murdered everyday . It's something that has happened, is happening and will continue happening. So when I see human violence and gore on tv or in movies I sometimes have trouble watching it because I know that those situations are real. Zombies swipping their faces on barbwired fences not so much.

I'm anxious to see what happens tomorrow night. It's just going to suck so bad to have to wait until October .

I often have zombie dreams, but I don't think of them as nightmares. I'm disappointed when I wake up and realize the world is in fact not overrun by zombies and it's time to get ready for work :p
