TV & Film The Walking Dead

Yeah, that may actually fall on the director of the episode... They sometimes have someone different directing several episodes in a row
I see! Would be interested to know if that's the case here. Will have to look it up.

I really didn't enjoy that episode (I know right, first time ever!) it was cheesy, weird & felt staged. I hope the nest episode is better. :/

Do you watch Talking Dead? I saw that Jesus is British. The actor who plays Maggie has a strange accent in real life.

Seems to me that the closer they follow the comic book, the more non-readers are put off by the episodes lol

It would seem that way, given that the episode was almost a one-for-one recreation of the comic. Aside from the scenes with Maggie it was almost exact! Until this season they haven't really been doing that. Not sure why they're deciding to do it now but I honestly am fine with it.

They haven't done that bad really. It's had it's moments where it's been pretty close, the biggest thing is the death remixes to throw people off, and the heavy use of composite characters. So lets realistically analyze some of the differences...

1) They killed Dale early and turned Hershel and Bob (Bob Stooky is actually a character from the novels "Road to Woodbury", and "Fall of the Governor Part I and II" if you didn't know) into composite characters for Dale.

2) The killed Andrea but she has lived on through composite characters (Carol, Sasha, Michonne). Michonne isn't a **** with a nooky death curse, Carol isn't a suicidal **** mess either (yet).

3) They killed Sophia, but it's becoming obvious that they've tossed in Enid to fill the Sophia void. They've probably planned doing so all along.

4) We had Beth instead of the Billy Greene and the twins (which kind of irked me) but I guess there's the logistics of having twins and the whole thing at the prison with Thomas and the twins would have been too gruesome for TV... But then again, they've done some pretty gruesome things.

5) The scene where the guy tells Carol to look after his girls is nearly verbatim the scene between Andrea and Allen regarding Billy and Ben... We later find out that set us up to actually have the story of Billy and Ben played out through Lizzie and Mekka.. No big deal that they changed the gender of the kids really... Though I wish they could have concluded it the same way as in the comic with Carl sneaking in and killing Ben... That was actually kind of a defining moment for Carl, but I think Carl coldly killing the kid near the prison was supposed to symbolize Carl killing Ben.

6) Hershel receives the death of Tyreese, Bob gets the death of Dale, etc.

7) They made the Hunter saga a much bigger thing than it actually was through "Terminus", but with basically the same outcome that freaks Gabriel out.

8) Kind of ticked me off they didn't stick to the comics in regards to how Lori (and Judith) died. Having Judith still in the story is kind of awkward. Also I will never forgive them for not cutting off Rick's hand... That is all.

I could make the list much longer than I have but you know what I mean? It's all mainly changes with the characters themselves. The story has consistently had the final destination of the story arches from the comics at heart. I love it that they haven't glossed over any of the really iconic scenes from the comic, like Rick biting the throat of the marauder on the road to DC, or the dispatching of the hunters, and the "No Way Out" arch they just did, etc. But the things they do change and add is so the hard fans of both the comics and the show A) aren't consistently spoiling the show for everyone else and B) having the differences keep us interested. But it is REALLY awesome they're following the comic so closely now, and maybe that's because we are approaching so many iconic moments.

I rewatched the three episodes again and thought they were much better watching them back to back. I notice a lot more detail the second time of watching.:)

Aside from the implication that Michonne and Carol are/were "sluts," this is pretty much the truth. What I meant is, cinematically, they haven't been following the comic panels themselves so closely throughout the show, and they're sticking to it more now. Or have I just not noticed in the past? Eh. There have been a few I remember, but not as many as with this season.

Sorry if saying that was offensive, but I kind of recall Michonne having a lot of partners lol... Wasn't the reason Carol killed herself because Michonne stole Tyreese from her, and Rick and Lori didn't want to be polygamous with her?

There has been many episodes that have been torn right from the pages of the comic... The difference between the before and now is that it wasn't something that happened over a series of consecutive episodes. Season 6B is just recreating panels from the comic episode after episode and it's pretty awesome.

I got the feeling a lot was going on with Carol which extended far beyond her relationships. I am way more fond of Show Carol than I am of Comic Carol anyway. I got into the show way before I started the comic, so it was interesting seeing how their treatment of that character differed. She's a completely different person in the show.

Probably true. They're just not as fresh in my mind as this arc. This is the first time I got to basically read along in the comic with what was about to happen in the show.

Which, by the way:

I'm not totally caught up yet - I'm just past the time skip. Carl is such a badass at this point, same goes for Maggie. It's kind of cathartic to see them actually pulling this civilization thing off. The Negan arc, from beginning to end, has to be the most invested I've ever gotten in this story. Negan is such a great villain, and the stakes felt so high through the whole thing. With the farm, it was the promise of maybe having a stable house to live in. With the prison, it was the promise of maybe having a small community. But with Alexandria, and the Hilltop, and the Kingdom... it felt like these characters could actually be forging a new world. And after 100+ chapters of that being a pipe dream, I was really rooting for them. I accidentally read your spoiler and I have to say, as horrifying as a loose Negan sounds, I kind of miss him being a threat. Also, some of his swear concoctions were absolutely hysterical. I found myself reading them aloud just to try and get a feel for how this character would even talk. I wonder how the show is going to handle him. Have him say "hell" and "damn" a lot? Doesn't feel like it'd have the same impact. Anyway, Glenn is the love of my life, so the fact that the show has me actually looking forward to this arc escalating speaks to the power of this latest episode. Holy ****, do I want **** to go down. I'm nervous, and I'm scared, but I want to see it play out. Also: I'm surprised Abraham lived through the episode, I was 100% expecting him to bite it during the raid. OH: and I wonder if the show is going to have Ezekiel? I feel like they could probably pull him off but they'd have to be pretty careful. One of my favorite 'new' characters.

Absolutely right, TV Carol at any point has just barely resembled comic Carol. I actually think the main objective with Carol all along has been to fill that Andrea void as a composite character. We witnessed Carol morph into Andrea a LOT during the stay at the prison. I'd have to say that she filled that same void again during the Wolf invasion in Season 6A.

Yeah, things are really going well in Alexandria... They have crops, they have a flour mill, etc. They've established a solid network between Alexandria, Hilltop, Kingdom, and Savoir Sanctum. They've been living and not just surviving for awhile now. From what I can figure the time jump is three or four years. But of course now there's a new and terrifying threat. What do you of the new threat if you've gotten that far?

How Negan would talk, his voice, accent etc is something I've thought about for a long time. I imagine him sounding something like the mobsters from the Sopranos. Jersey, New York accent... But anyway, from what I've read, ALL of Negan's scenes are being filmed twice. Lots of ****, dick, *****, freaking, fricking, etc in the first take, and the F bombs are going to fly in the second takes. Negan unfiltered will be on Blu-Ray.

Yeah, please kill Abe already, and I also foresee them killing Tara... There's still time to do it before finale lol.. It kinda made me pee a little bit when Glenn saw the Polaroids of Lucille's handy work.. Poor Glenn, his picture will be joining that wall soon.

Ezekiel is coming, and they are trying to figure out the logistics of also having Shiva by his side. Season 7 mid season finale? Or hell maybe even sooner in season 7A than that.

The farthest I've gotten is to the end of Volume 11, and that's with the introduction of people who wear zombies as skins and say all these cryptic things. Not sure what will come of that, but I have Volume 12, so I'll find out soon I guess.

That is fantastic that they're doing Negan unfiltered for the general release. I almost want the show to be on HBO or something so they can do Negan justice the first time around. As for his voice... you know cr1tikal on YouTube? Who does lets-plays with this extremely unaffected tone while casually dropping hundreds of f-bombs and such everywhere? I pictured him like that for some reason.

I am worried about Tara, I don't want her to die, but the fuzzy scene with her and Denise makes me very concerned. I like Denise more in the show than I do the comic, I think they've done well with her... so I'm doubly worried they're going to give Tara Heath's comic role and have Denise do, you know, what she did.

Dwight is supposed to return in episode 615 (with burned face perhaps?).. Might want to add Abraham to the death list. I agree Tara as well, that's a setup you can see from a mile away. But honestly, I'm tired of Abraham already. The break up with Rosita (like in the comic), being on patrol with Eugene (like in the comic) is a nice setup for him to take an arrow to the ******* head! :D

100% agree about Abraham. Literally the entire time they were attacking the outpost I was expecting him to get it. But, no.

I'm not annoyed with Abe or anything, but he's not my favorite character or anything either. It'd make sense for him to die at this point.

I really liked the last episode. Left it on a good cliffhanger too.

Also, Abraham...what a dick!
