US US politics 2025

Survived a whole day without Netflix, Disney, Meta, McDonalds, Burger King or Amazon. Was not difficult at all, will keep limiting my future time on Facebook specifically.
Same here. I intend to keep up the boycotts. I need to dump FB, too, but I'm not there yet. I'm also going to continue doing the bulk of my grocery shopping at companies that aren't ending their DEI initiatives. No more Target or Walmart for me (I was going to Target way more than Walmart anyway). And fast food isn't healthy, so I'm going to delete my Burger King app and stop going there (not that I went there a lot). I've got to research the local businesses to see where they fall politically. While I'd rather shop locally, I want to make sure I'm not supporting someone who supports you-know-who.

I hope these lawsuits have some impact, but I'm skeptical, because you-know-who just ignores and appeals these rulings. So when these cases get to the bought-and-paid-for Supreme Court, he'll eventually win. He's not playing by established rules. I don't know what the answer is.

I don't ever see me leaving fb. I have too many connections there that I don't want to lose. I depend on Amazon for too many things that I can't get locally but I am going to try and limit my purchases and not just use them for the sake of convenience.

I think that's the key, the convenience. I know my mom relies on Amazon for so much because she's 83 and doesn't have the shopping stamina she used to have. And I get that people with conditions who can't get out rely on it. I'm fortunate that I don't have to, so it will take a a little effort on my part to change my ways, but I think I can do it.

Habit I've had with amazon is stalking things in my cart, just waiting for that day it goes on deep sale and buying.
I'm so happy I have Costco and lots of Indian groceries. I think I'll see about joining a CSA for veggies this year

As much as my company is changing, and I do have worries about their future, they are part of a large corporation that hasn't, and will not, give up DEI practices. I'm going to ride it out and hope their plans pan out!

I still hope that a few of the Supreme Justices - specifically Roberts and Kavanaugh - don’t want to leave as their legacy that they helped abolish the rule of law in America.

In other news - I have by now perfected my answer to Dump cultists on Facebook.

I am very sorry to hear that you hate veterans and actively voted for them to lose their jobs.

Most Americans typically claim to like them, or at least "thank them for their service", but I understand that there must also be a lot of people like you out there.

So, more bad news. I wonder how long it will take MAGA to notice.

Republicans inch closer to a bill that would cut Medicaid. They're just hoping you won't notice.

Last week, House Republicans adopted their budget resolution, the first step toward enacting a bill that would kick millions off Medicaid and cut food assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to a meager $1.67 per meal for the typical recipient on average — all while providing an average tax cut of $278,000 to the top 0.1% and adding trillions of dollars to the national deficit.

Another interesting development, this time from the Supreme Court:

To be fair, I am a little shocked that 4 conservative judges stood up publically and "emphatically" said "Of course you do not have to pay for services rendered if you are the fu**ing US Government and don't feel like paying"

I had thought that line of thought had been limited to the likes of Dump so far, not to actual US judges.

This court is such a disappointment on so many levels.
