I just got done listening on-line to a mix of Vern Gosdin and kd lang (some of her country stuff from "Absolute Torch & Twang"- I love "Trail Of Broken Hearts", which isn't nearly as sad as it sounds- but also some tracks from "All You Can Eat"). Both of them had/have great voices, and I love how they used/use them. I do wish so many of Gosdin's songs weren't so sad though... and he had an expressive face as well, so the videos have even more impact.

Never saw Vern Gosdin live, but I did see kd lang when she had just come out with "Ingenue". It was a departure from country, but still a good listen- and she was very much in her element on-stage.
