I was in the mood for some Alan Parsons Project and put on "To One In Paradise", the last track from "Tales Of Mystery And Imagination". Sad, I suppose, but there's something about the melody, along with the lush harmony/arrangement, that keeps it from being depressing (to me anyway). "Die Sinister" did an AMAZING job with the accompanying pictures...

Autoplay selected "Old And Wise" from "Eye In The Sky" next... and that WAS depressing?...

So I figured, "why not just overdose on sad music?" and listened to "The Bridge I'm Still Building On" from Vern Gosdin's "Out Of My Heart"... It felt kind of like how I imagine drowning in a tub of warm beer would feel.

THAT'S enough of THAT.

I was listening to a local "Oldies" station this morning... they were playing quite a bit of Buddy Holly (not that I'm complaining). Within 4 hours I think they played 3 or 4 songs of his: "That'll Be The Day", "True Love Ways"(?), at least one other song I've heard often but can't recall the title...

^^^ I was just checking out an offbeat holiday website, and found out why they played so many Buddy Holly songs: Saturday, Feb 3rd, was The Day The Music Died, when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper all died in a plane crash back in the 1950s. :(:sigh:

ETA:
@blues - I'm listening to that Denise LaSalle song you posted above on January 15th... That woman has a VOICE. A good one. Sad song, though... she'd give Vern Gosdin a run for his money.

I'm listening/watching to an Infinity Hall Live concert series performance by Galactic on the Roku PBS channel from Connecticut. I have a PBS account that gives me access to 44 of these shows. There are some great shows on the list, including Tori Amos, Los Lonely Boys (I actually saw this group at the Hartford Infinity Hall, though this show was taped at the other one in Norfolk, CT), Dave Mason and many other good ones.

I'm not listening to anything this particular minute, but last week I got two CDs out of the library: "Songs You Know By Heart" by Jimmy Buffett (basically a greatest hits compilation) and "Exciter" by Depeche Mode. They were both okay. Buffet's songs weren't quite as "let's party" as I was expecting- I kind of liked his album "Hot Water" a little better when I borrowed that. "Exciter" was interesting: I really liked the production sound, but the lyrics were pretty moody and maybe even a little dark- not like their hit "Enjoy The Silence" at all.

Not music, but I'm listening to - How to make diseases disappear - Rangan Chatterjee, TED talk.

I read his 4 pillars of health book the other day and was impressed and thought I would listen to his TED talk.

I'm listening to the Putumayo World Music Hour on public radio. The theme this week is Jamaica... yeah, I'm kinda diggin' the reggae vibe tonight.

^ We were thinking of going to the O2 to see their unplugged gig last month, but we didn't get around to buying tickets in the end. My husband really likes them and he likes Gary Numan too. We saw him at the Scala and at Indigo at the O2.

The World Café in on public radio right now.... They began with a nice (and pretty funny) interview with Moby.... Now they're playing songs that were featured on WKRP in Cincinnati! :) Currently, Beast of Burden by the Stones... what a great tune.
