US Boys choose to not apply themselves academically, but still outearn girls

I've been able to get by without a degree so far.

I suppose I fit into the whole "boys choose to not apply themselves academically" on paper, since I lack that piece of college paper. But on the other hand, it would ignore the experience I have, the jobs I've taken to gain that experience, and the conferences and groups I've been part of to extend that knowledge, as well as the ongoing learning I do.

I just couldn't go into deep debt for college at that time in my life, and since I'd rather not make a low wage, I took some pretty crappy jobs in order to gain experience and fill out my resume.

Hmmm, there's an idea - maybe instead of encouraging gals to go to college, we should yank out all the benefits for them, and give them to guys instead. Then gals will be encouraged to join the labor force earlier and put a bigger emphasis on making good money, while guys will get stuck inside the ivory tower for years. ;)
