Apparently, there are going to be more resignations after the polling stations close.

Whatever happens now, Nigel Farage has already won

May to resign as Conservative leader on the 7th of June.

I don't like Nigel Farage but it is impressive how he managed to get so much support in such a short space of time! It shows how annoyed the British people are.

Now if there was a General Election it will probably be between Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn. I assume Boris will be the next Conservative leader.

Boris and Nigel are both of the same ilk, populist demagogues pandering to the far right, without having actually workable solutions to the great challenges of our time, much like Trump in the US. They are controversy clowns whose main skills are creating media noise and chaos in their wake.

Jeremy may be a populist to some extent, but comes with a different set of problems, mainly that he's universally hated by the country's powerful media companies and political elite on both sides of the political spectrum, and that he's the leader of a party that at this point is not really a party. He doesn't have Boris' media skills. He doesn't make you laugh. For these reasons, in this new era, Jeremy would probably struggle to win a general election against Boris.

I have just seen the date for her resignation. So, it looks like they have hastened her depart.

It certainly does look like it's going to be Boris who will be Downing St's next lodger. I wonder what Larry thinks ?

I think TM and JC are quite evenly matched in the charisma stakes, as in neither of them have any. Boris does manage to charm some people with his buffoon act. I have known a couple of people that worked with him and they say he is highly intelligent, however. I didn't vote for him as Mayor of London but a lot of people did.

Interesting times ahead!

The Lib Dems are getting a new leader too. I think I can vote for the new leader now as I joined the Lib Dems the other day, finally! I've been meaning to do it for ages but politics was boring me so much at the time.

Sky News' All out Politics totalled up all the Remain/2nd referendum parties and then the Brexit Parties and came out with:

Remain/2nd referendum = 53% vote share
Leave EU = 46% vote share.

It's hard to say what the votes for Labour and the Tories mean in terms of Leave vs Remain/2nd referendum.

In any case, however you look at it, this result is very clearly not an endorsement for a hard Brexit.

It seems likely that this result will mean the Tories will elect a new leader who is more staunchly supportive of Brexit at any cost, whereas Labour could now, maybe, finally be persuaded into supporting a 2nd referendum as their primary policy.

In any case, we are guaranteed more Brexit chaos for months to come yet.
