Hummus is awful.

I've only had hummus once. It was flavored, and so disgusting I was scared to ever try it again.
For me it's like drinking too much. After I had eaten hummus I thought "I'm never ingesting this crap again, it isn't fair to my body". Then everyone would say how awesome it was and how I just hadn't tried GOOD hummus, so I'd try it again, and hate it again.

So really, not going to try it again.

I think it's the tahini taste that I don't like about houmous because I seem to prefer the flavoured ones where they mask that taste.

Heresy.

FWIW this is the tahini I use in my hummus, from Lebanon.

It's pretty basic the way I make it. Approx 3 cups cooked chickpeas (sometimes more), 3 TBS minced garlic, 1/2 cup tahini, 1/3 cup lemon juice and 1/2 tsp salt. If I want it spicy I add rooster sauce.

^ Hmm, peanut butter, I would never have thought to do that.:)

I know Beanstew said he has tahini just as a sandwich filling. Tahini tastes so strange to me. I don't know if there is tahini in falafel because I sometimes don't like that too?

I like the plain, or "classic" hummus the best. There are definitely some brands that I thought "Holy hell, what IS this crap?" but I think I may have settled on the plain Sabra one. I just need to start making my own, though.

We make a green hummus at my restaurant that is out of this world! It's made with arugula and spinach (mostly arugula). I would eat it three times a day, every day if I could.

But hummus. When did that happen?…there’s a restaurant down the road that that’s all they do. That isn’t a proper meal, that’s a side-order innit? That’s like having a restaurant just floggin’ tomato ketchup. Hummus isn’t a meal. They don’t even try and kid ya to get you in to flog you just hummus, they actually say “Oh it’s hummus today.” Not gonna work, they shut down within a month.

Bad hummus is bad. I don't like store bought hummus or Pita Pit hummus. Good hummus is amazing though.

I just saw edamame hummus at Trader Joe's...I almost bought it, but decided against it. Maybe next time.

Yeah I'm not a fan of tahini. I always get the flavored hummus as well. Pizza flavor is my favorite.

I have to specify at restaurants that I don't want tahini drizzled on my falafel pita sandwiches. Most here seem to automatically add it.

Its better than avacado...houmous saved my lunchtime sandwich from cheese... Thankyou Houmous!

Same here!!

Okay, I looked up a vegan falafel recipe and it's the parsley taste that I don't like.

Parsley is nasty. I detest tabbouli for that reason. I don't really notice the parsley taste in falafel, but I also have hot sauce/hummus on my falafel sandwiches or salads.
