TV & Film Movie Lounge

Today I spent the afternoon watching movies, mostly pretty predictable Christmas films on Amazon. There were a couple that were fairly enjoyable. Then I chose "A Million Miles Away" which is the true story of a Mexican-American man who wants to be an astronaut. It is a really good movie!

A great movie, thank you for the recommendation, we watched it last night and enjoyed it very much!

Watched more Christmas movies though I admit I dozed off during the first one and the 30 minutes I missed didn't spoil it at all. LOL It was nice and predictable. The next one was pretty good called "A Christmas Hero". It was about a military vet with PTSD and it had a "It's a Wonderful Life" vibe with a guardian angel.

I'm watching another Christmas film too. Christmas With You. It stars Freddie Prinze Junior. It seems very watchable so far.

I really want to see the new Godzilla film as I keep reading good reviews.

Last night I watched A Biltmore Christmas on the Hallmark Channel. It's one of the new ones, this year, and I really liked it. That one and A Merry Scottish Christmas are my favorites of the new ones. I also really enjoyed Christmas Island.

Just watched a really good Christmas movie! "Last Christmas" from 2019. It starred Emilia Clarke and some other recognizable faces. It was a much higher quality movie than most I have seen. It featured songs by George Michael.
I was thinking about that film yesterday as I didn't get around to seeing it. I might look and see where I can watch it.

I watched No Hard Feeling last night.
mixed feelings.
there were a lot of things I liked about it.
Not sure why but the last quarter of the movie I was just wishing it to get on with it.
the writers did do a good job of writing a surpassingly satisfying ending. So I guess the wait was worth it.

Naked Jeninifer Lawrence was a pleasant surprise. Jennifer Lawrence is now 30-something. Seems like just yesterday she was teenage Katniss. Although I suppose she wasn't a teenager when she played Katniss either.

Yesterday afternoon was Christmas movie day! Haley was here and picked the first one "Violent Night" It was really different from most Christmas movies as it was about a violent home invasion of these very rich people. It was rated R. It so happened that Santa was at this house when the robbers came in and he kind of turned Ninja warrior. It was really bloody but pretty good.
Then I watched a new one that starred Eddie Murphy who I hadn't seen in a movie in years. It is called "Candy Cane Lane" and was pretty good and not as typical as some Christmas films are.
Last one was "Christmas Staycation" and it was also pretty good. A family gets together for Christmas and much chaos begins. It was pretty funny.
All are on Amazon.

I watched Freelance. Action/comedy. Nothing special but it kept me entertained.
John Cena and Alison Brie star.
The guy playing the President stole the show, tho.

Here are yesterday's Christmas movies!
"Christmas is Cancelled" it was enjoyable. A young woman finds out her widowed father is dating a high school classmate who she hates and she tries to split them up.
"Hope Street Holiday" This one is pretty typical. Young woman returns home after living away for some time and you can pretty much guess what happens.
"2nd Chance for Christmas" I liked this one. It is a modern take on "A Christmas Carol" about a young woman diva rock star who is selfish and unlikable.

I wanted to see that film, but I couldn't find it for free.

I watched a Christmas film called Next Stop, Christmas. It was a time travel story and it had two people from Back the Future in it. Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson.

I love that movie. My sister actually bought it for me on DVD. :)

My friend who was over this weekend has Netflix, so we watched a few movies, including one called The Gray Man, about a CIA operative who is the target of a new regime that wants to rid the agency of assassins who were recruited from prison. It stars Ryan Gossling (as the good bad guy) and Chris Evans (who plays an absolutely vile character, lol). They spend the movie trying to outsmart each other. Pretty enjoyable film, though I had to close my eyes for a couple of violent scenes.
