I also watched an older film called Gifted. Reminded me a bit of Matilda. Liked it a lot. Highly recommended.

There is an over the air channel that shows old black and white movies. I usually don't watch them but today I took a peek and they are showing scary movies. I started watching "The Blob", the original with Steve McQueen, but I fell asleep so I missed it. Then there was a really boring one from 1951 about an alien space ship found in the ice but I can't remember the name of it. I didn't really watch that one. Then came "Village of the Damned" (1960) which I have heard of and it is always said to be a good one so I watched it. Creepy kids! LOL Then it was time for the news so I stopped watching. I will check them out again tomorrow!
Oh man! I see that one of my all time favorite movies is coming on "The Day the Earth Stood Still". I can't watch it though because I have to go to bed in the middle of it.

Gifted stars Chris Evans (Captain America).Got a 7.6 on IMDB.
It's about a really smart little girl, her protective father and her ambitious grandmother. Takes place in Florida.
Started a movie last night but didn't finish it. I heard about it from a newsletter I get from Kanopy.

Needless to say you can watch it for free on the Kanopy channel.
It's a wierd little story that takes place in Canada. So maybe Emma might like it.
Summary: Two teenage yoga enthusiasts must do battle with an evil presence that is threatening to rise from its underground lair and endanger their major party plans.
Part comedy, part teen scream.
Kevin Smith is the Director and Writer and the cast includes Johnny Depp.
However the stars are Lily Rose Depp (Johnny's daughter), and Harley Quinn Smith (Kevin's daughter).
IMDB gave it a 4.2. but I think it might be better than that.
There is another Smith Movie titled Tusk. seems like it might be related. So if I like this one I'll watch that one - but it's not on Kanopy.

Finished Yoga Hosers. Probably the worst thing that Smith and Depp have ever done. but it was weird and humorous. not LOL funny but entertaining. the "scary" stuff was just so absurd it was - well - not scary.
It does have a great cast, but they are all heavily made up. I had to go to IMDB to see who they were.
The film features the two daughters a lot. I imagine the dads must have been hoping to kickstart their careers. I don't think they did anything to hurt their film careers but they have not been in much since. There is supposed to be third movie - Moose Jaws that is supposed to come out next year.
I read somewhere that Kevin Smith only makes movies that he wants to make. And I can imagine he had a lot of fun making this one. A lot of the guys who have been in his movies before had parts or cameos.
There is a ton of Canada based jokes. I just found out that Kevin Smith lived for a while in Canada. however I wonder if Canadians will appreciate the humor.

We started watching the film Old Dads in Netflix as I kept reading it was funny. It was "starring" Bill Burr. If that was meant to be comedy I want my money back! I only watched about half an hour. Terrible. I have no idea who this guy is.

I didn't agree with much on the list but the only movie on the list I hadn't seen was Palm Springs
So I just finished watching it.
It wasn't that great but I did enjoy it.

It's a time loop story - like Ground Hog day. So science -wise it makes no sense anyway.

I have been watching some of the scary movies being shown on the old movies channel. Some of them are "B" movies, the kind they used to show at drive-inns back in the day. Some of them I know I saw as a kid at the Saturday matinees in my home town. Vampires, and werewolves were popular!

I suspect you got lost after that sudden left turn towards the ending. You might try just watching the last 15 minutes again.
There is another movie made by the same people called Searching. at the beginning of Missing there is a news report that mentions the people in Searching.

I watched Wind River last night.
Maybe a little slow moving but very well crafted movie. Had to FF thru one scene that was too violent. And there was another scene that was too violent but it was over very quickly.
