TV & Film Movie Lounge

We watched the film Summer of 84 earlier. Hmm. It seemed like it could have been a lot better. It reminded me of Stranger Things and The Goonies a bit. Wasn't very scary, though.

hey did anyone notice that '42 x2 is '84?
Did they do that on purpose? It came to mind because Orwell wrote 1984 in 42.
in the '84 movie, were there any Orwellian call backs. You know 1984 was written in '42.

we watched a new Short on Netflix - The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar - it was very different and interesting with cool actors, Cumberbatch, Patel, Kingsley, Fiennes

That's a fine lineup!

I saw Scrapper the other night at an art house theater. It was quite good! I wasn't expecting too much because the friend I went with has a different taste in movies than I do. On occasion our interests intersect. It starred Harris Dickinson and newcomer Lola Campbell. Harris plays Lola's father, who has never met her and comes into her life after her mother dies. It was a nice let's-get-to-know-each-other story, and how they try to make their relationship work. Harris is a very good actor, and Lola did a great job as the child. I believe this was her first movie.

Yeah I saw it too.
I liked that it was another Roald Dahl novel come to the big screen - well in this case - the streaming screen

That was the first of my little romcom marathon. And IMHO the best of the little bunch. The statistics and the bad cellphone were kind of corny gimmicks but I still liked them,

I watched the new Mission Impossible.
They spent a lot of time on the "set up".
With the intermittent actions scenes sandwiched it - it was like half the movie.
And it was annoying because despite all the time they devoted to the set up- it still didn't make any sense.
The last half hour was some pretty wild stuff that made everything before hand worthwhile.
we have to wait for the next one to learn how it ends. Which is also annoying.

We watched the new Exorcist film at the cinema today. Nothing happened for almost 40 minutes so we walked out!🤣
I have never walked out of a film. like there is always hope it might get better. Funny tho. I have a whole list of movies I've started at home that I turn off. Maybe cause I didn't pay for them,

My wife and I also watched „The wonderful story of Henry Sugar“ yesterday and enjoyed it.
I love Roald Dahl, I love Wes Anderson, and I love all the actors in the movie, so I had already expected that.
Now, I’m waiting for „My Uncle Oswald“ … (sorry if I am throwing the thread off on a literary tangent again)

Okay, that film wasn't funny or scary! I stopped watching it!

I watched Freaky instead. It is a horror film by the person who did the Happy Death Day films. I throughly enjoyed it. It is a take on Freaky Friday where a serial killer (played by Vince Vaughn) switches bodies with a teenage girl.
