TV & Film Movie Lounge

I lost interest and didn't find the end very original. However, I did like the first 30 minutes of the story.
Huh. I thought the plot twist at the end was well executed. And I hadn't seen it coming. but I think the other movie, Searching, was a bit better.
Both Searching and Missing both use the same technique in story telling - where the story is related to us thru screens. I just learned that it has a name: "Screen LIfe Cinema"

I really liked Searching and Missing a lot. I'm sure I have said this before on here.

I just watched The Pope's Exorcist. I thought it was good, although I read it didn't get great reviews. It stars Russell Crowe. I would say 7/10 too, but very watchable.

I just remembered I saw „Weird - The Al Yankovics Story“ some time ago.
Very funny, and well played by a - for me - very unexpected Daniel Radcliffe in the titular role.

We watched a film called Spiral last night. I know we had seen it before, but neither of us remembered it. It was part of the Saw film series, which I also didn't remember. It was quite bad and very gory. 6/10.

Read about a fan created movie called WaterWorld - the Ulysses Cut. According to the article fans of Waterworld were able to piece together a version that included a lot of extra scenes. And according to the fans, this version adds more depth and more action sequences.

I was intrigued and watched it last night. Although it's been years since I watched Waterworld I surprised myself on how much of it I remembered. Maybe I've seen it more than once.

I enjoyed watching it. Not sure if it's better than the original But it IS super long, almost 3 hours. Toward the end I started fast forwarding thru the action/fight scenes.

Maybe it's the hard SF fan in me but I really wished they got some better consulting on how a water based civilization would exist/look/operate. Some of the stuff seemed way too unlikely.

I started watching a film called I See You starring Helen Hunt. I know I have started to watch this film twice before, but I thought I would stick with it this time. It is on Netflix and described as a horror, but it seems more like a mystery so far.

I watched a good "rom-com" last night, not a Christmas movie. It was "Ticket to Paradise" on Amazon and starred (and was produced by) George Clooney and Julia Roberts. It took place on Bali and the scenery was spectacular! It also featured native culture and was an enjoyable watch.

Today I spent the afternoon watching movies, mostly pretty predictable Christmas films on Amazon. There were a couple that were fairly enjoyable. Then I chose "A Million Miles Away" which is the true story of a Mexican-American man who wants to be an astronaut. It is a really good movie!

Last night I watched A Christmas Story, which I always watch on Thanksgiving weekend. I also watched a new Hallmark Christmas movie called A Merry Scottish Christmas, which reunited Party of Five regulars Lacey Chabert and Scott Wolf as brother and sister once again. There were several nods to Party of Five, and a nod to The Christmas Waltz, which also starred Chabert. The male lead in that one (Will Kemp) had a small part in A Merry Scottish Christmas, and Lacey Chabert's character asked him if they'd met before, and he said no but that he gets that a lot. :) Very enjoyable movie.

This was on the side of my cereal box.
Not a fan of Hallmark or Christmas movies in general, but I know a bunch of you are.
You probably already know about this promotion but just in case you haven't been paying attention. There is an app and a sweepstakes. Oh, boy!

We saw Thanksgiving at the cinema today. It was very violent and gory. I covered my eyes about 10 times. I did like it, though. I would probably give it 9 out of 10 as it was genuinely quite scary.
