TV & Film Movie Lounge

SKY have the following film on during the Christmas season, each and every year. It's not really a typical Christmas film but one of my favourites. The scenery, brilliant acting and Nancy Meyers great directing skills make it a pure delight, to watch on a chilly winter afternoon/

Watched another Christmas movie on Amazon last night called "The Christmas Brew." It was a typical romance about a young woman sent to a small brewery to buy it by a big company. Since I have some knowledge of the brewery life, I picked it to watch. It was enjoyable. You can guess the plot!

It was watchable. I would say 7/10. My husband liked it more than I did. I don't really know the lead actor, Taron Egerton, even though he is British. I think I was expecting more as I read about it quite a while ago and if I hadn't I might have thought it was better.
Oh, he got famous with the two « Kingsman » movies, playing the young agent by the side of Colin Firth.

Let me guess: without knowing anything more than what you posted, when she comes to the brewery, she meets a ruggedly handsome local guy who is extremely controversial to her approach, who manages to show to her the wisdom of small company practices over the soulless big company approach, and they end up a couple, and the small brewery stays independent ?

Pretty close! The "local guy" is the brewery owner! :D

however, some greek playwright who lived like 2000 years ago claimed there were only nine plots in fiction. Another guy wrote a book describing the seven basic plots. or maybe there are only six.

Regardless when it comes to RomCom - there seems to be only one.

@Andy_T It will be interesting to see Superman's Kryptonian dog Krypto in a Superman film. He was an interesting character in the comics, having Superboy's Kryptonian powers and weaknesses (unharmed by almost everything except Kryptonite, has the abilities of flight, super-strength, heat vision, etc), but was depicted as having a basically human intellect: he couldn't speak, of course, but in the comics there were "thought bubbles" which had text indicating what he was thinking.
