TV & Film Movie Lounge

It was just a little weird for me, watching Lacey in Hot Frosty, as there were some nuances that you definitely don't see in hallmark movies, haha.

I watched "The Flight Before Christmas" which starred Mayim Bialik. It was a cute predictable romance. Then I watched "Love Actually" which I had never seen despite it being over 20 years old! It was mentioned in the show "Cross" so I picked it. I loved it! So many well known actors in it. A young Rick Grimes! (Walking Dead) being British as he really is. LOL

Love Actually is one of my all time favorite movies ever. I watch it every year. I like to save it for Christmas week, along with Holiday Inn, White Christmas, It's A Wonderful Life, The Santa Clause, Christmas With the Kranks and a few others that are classics/must watches for me.

yes, a Crown for Christmas was one of them and the other was Christmas in Rome and Lacey was in that one as well as the one I watched last night which was silly but it was filmed in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, in the Byward Market, where my honey is from and where I lived on and off for a few years

btw I was wrong about Hot Frosty being filmed in the Byward Market in Ottawa - it was mostly filmed in Brockville which is on the St Lawrence River and we used to keep a boat there - it is a typical medium size town in Ontario - the school part of the film was done in Ottawa

I save Love Actually for Christmas week as well! Along with It's a Wonderful Life (usually on Christmas Eve). I also love A Christmas Story (I watch this multiple times during the holiday season), Last Holiday, Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, Die Hard and more. :D

we watched Fly Me to the Moon last evening - it was good and funny and always nice to see Channing and Scarlet and Woody and a bunch of other well known people including Christian Clemenson from Boston Legal and so many other shows and movies

Oh, are you a “Boston Legal” fan?
Saw that some years ago, and liked it a lot, especially as a few of the characters had been on “The Practice” before.

Anybody else here with an interest in legal series?
I recently got introduced to “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight”, and my wife and I liked it a lot, too.

Any other suggestions? Have seen “Suits”, the only other classics out there I have not tried out there are “Ally McBeal” and “LA Law”, not sure if I should look those two up as well…

You forgot to mention the king of them all---"Law & Order" and all the spinoffs. I liked "Ally McBeal", it was a bit quirky.

yes, definitely a fan of all those that you named except have never watched Ally McBeal or LA Law or Law and Order

Fly Me to the Moon is on Apple+ which we have a three month trial for.

I think we watched a movie yesterday but can't remember what it was. LOL

I remember liking "The Good Wife" back in the day, but I don't think I ever finished the series. Same with "Boston Legal. " "Ally McBeal" didn't do much for me, so I stopped watching it while it was still on TV back in the day. "Bull" was pretty good in the early seasons. It's about a psychologist who uses his skills to help his clients with jury selection. Some interesting moral issues and whatnot and some good cases. It got a little soapy as the seasons went on, but I enjoyed the first three seasons or so.

IMHO, the Good Wife is The Best. The Good Fight was pretty good, too If you like those you should check out the King's other creations. I didn't think Elsbeth was all that great but I LOVED Brain Dead. I have a friend who thought Your Honor was very good - but I never watched it.

I never finished Suits. Stopped when they lost 2 of the best cast members. But I enjoyed all the seasons I watched.
Back in the Day (before cable and VCRs) I watched every episode of Ally.

Then of course there is Law and Order. Never got into the spin offs but watched about 20 seasons of the Original.

we watched The Man Who Invented Christmas again (thanks to this thread I found out we watched it 3 years ago) - it is about Charles Dickens although I don't believe too many of the story is factual - it is dark but highly entertaining

I put it on my list but I just read that it has plot holes you can fly a plane thru. But then if it's entertaining enough you might not care. Let us know if it's worth watching.
It was watchable. I would say 7/10. My husband liked it more than I did. I don't really know the lead actor, Taron Egerton, even though he is British. I think I was expecting more as I read about it quite a while ago and if I hadn't I might have thought it was better.

I watched two Christmas movies last night. "Tails of Christmas" which was about a young woman with an animal shelter. Typical Christmas romance and must have been made by a small Christian film studio. I didn't recognize any of the actors and the acting was amateurish and lots of God references and the romance very understated.
The other one was a lot better called "Dognapped Hound for the Holidays". Another romance of course and the title pretty much tells the plot. Both on Amazon.

we watched a very silly sorta gross Christmas movie (2016) that made us laugh a lot - Why Him? - with Bryan Cranstron and James Franco - it was awful in so many ways with all the explicit language, and dead animals were displayed which was awful too... made me feel bad to laugh so much
