TV & Film Movie Lounge

Watched the Shaun The Sheep Movie yesterday.

It was okay, but nowhere as hilarious as the animated shorts.
(OK, I admit, have not seen the shorts very recently, maybe the quality has gone down in general. The first ones, when the series was launched, were extremely funny).

Best regards,
Andy

We watched Interstellar last night. It was just ok for me; too long and slow, I need action! The story was interesting though.

Ah, Joe, that brings the memory up of a movie I saw a long time ago ... "Who is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe".

Not a bad movie, a comedy that was reasonably funny (but, of course, not exactly vegan-friendly).

In that movie, some of the "greatest cooks" in Europe are murdered in a way that is reminiscent of the preparation of their signature dish. So the French chef (played by Phillippe Noiret) who prepares this dish is murdered by putting his head into the duck press.
Of course, that gruesome murder is only related verbally, and not shown (that was 1978, folks)

Best regards,
Andy

Sounds like a great plot for a movie! Maybe someone could do a remake ... :p

Sin City 2... ugh it was awful. It had no story, people with no personality who you didn't care about went around killing each other. Boyfriend says it's because I can't remember the first one (I saw it at the cinema when it was new, not rewatched) but I don't think that should matter. I understood what was going on I just found it really boring. It's recently come on Netflix so I thought I'd warn people if they were tempted :p

Ah, there are sooo many great comedies from the 40's to 70's that would warrant making a remake.

But most likely, the original movies would still be better....

BTW, talking about great comedies and remakes, two films come to my mind that are great to recommend (although it might be actually a day late) : "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", an awesome movie with an even more awesome soundtrack and another movie that was touted as a possible remake, although it came out only shortly thereafter: "To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar". To be honest, I have not seen the latter yet, as I assumed it would be a not-as-good remake of the further, but reading the reviews on IMDB, I will do so shortly, if I can get hold of it.

Best regards,
Andy

Just watched "The Grand Budapest Hotel".

My, what a wonderful, adorable, charming and funny movie!

Highly advised for everybody who likes a light comedy reminiscent of a bygone era that looks and feels glamorous, but, in hindsight, most likely was not.

Wonderful acting, beautiful pictures, delightful music and an overall very enjoyable experience!

Best regards,
Andy

CG and I watched this last week, I found it enchanting, funny and unusual. The format of the dialogue was a masterpiece. I really cannot think of anything I have watched before that is like it.

Nice surprise as I was not expecting it to be good. I loved every minute.

I watched the film because Colin Firth ( one of my favourite contemporary actors) had the leading role.
He looks like my dad when he was young, so I always like Colin Firth. :)

Here's a pic of my dad in his mid thirties. The blondie is me. :)

Nice picture. :) Your Mum looks like an actress. Your Dad looks a bit like some of the men in my family in Ireland.

I watched Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter yesterday as I taped it as it was on Film 4. I read that it got negative reviews because it relies too much on CGI but I thought it was quite a fun film.:)

I also rewatched The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Serenity over the past couple of weeks.

My husband watched the new Mad Max (when he was having another very busy day at work:rolleyes:) and he said it was really good.

He certainly does ressemble Colin Firth and he looks like he was a kind man. Your mum is also very attractive and I must say you look like you were a very happy family.

Led - you look like the most perfect little tot with your lovely huge, gorgeous eyes.

Molls, I read your 'new husband' and not new Mad Max.:D

^ Haha.:p

I was thinking that I don't think I have ever seen the original Mad Max all the way through. I saw on TV that it is the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music this year and I'm sure I have only seen bits and pieces of that too.
