TV & Film Movie Lounge

We went to see the new Mad Max movie today. It was awesome! Non-stop action, incredible stunts, badass woman lead character. If you like action movies, a must see! I don't know how they pulled off some of those stunts! I loved the original Mad Max movies and this one is a great addition!

An absolutely incredible movie. It just did not stop. There were only a couple moments in the film where things weren't constantly exploding, and they were short but meaningful.

Just watched Prometheus. It was entertaining yet pretty crappy at the same time. Well, if you like
alien slime, a cyber-feminist attempting to perform an abortion on herself, then giving birth to a space octopus, with a couple of alien vs predator references thrown in
then this might actually be just the movie for you!

Soaked in Bleach, a documentary about Kurt Cobain's death.
I wasn't originally going to watch this since I had thought Courtney killed him as soon as I heard of his death. But, since she's been threatening theater owner's who show it, I decided to see what the big deal was. Going in I already knew the film was slanted towards her killing him, but there's no denying the evidence presented. She got away with murder. I think if he had quietly changed his will and told her about it afterwards, he would still be alive. Very sad. :(

Have watched the movie "Diplomacy" about the final days of Nazi occupation of Paris ...

... and how the original plan to leave Paris to the allies as a pile of rubble could be averted.

Very interesting and intense.

Best regards,
Andy

Haha, Chryssie, I saw "Jupiter Ascending" on the plane.
It was not very good, but also (in my opinion) not spectacularly bad.

What can I say, Mila Kounis (attractive girl) looking good and some not-too-violent SciFi action.

Best thing in my opinion was Channing Tatum as Wolf soldier (human genetically modified with wolf genes, so with pointy ears and a bit hairy, quite fun IMO) and Sean Bean as himself.

I found the basic premise interesting ... earth (like hundreds of similar planets) is actually a factory farm run by aliens who are waiting to harvest humans for their DNA/blood/whatever, which is forcibly extracted with wicked needles and turned into a longevity drug allowing the aliens to live for milennia. But I guess most meat-eaters would not get the reference....

We went and saw Jurassic World last night. I loved it. I just love Chris Pratt. He is a sweetheart and is so in love with his beautiful wife Anna Faris. They are so cute.

I love Chris Pratt, but I'm not a fan of the Jurassic movies. I remember seeing the first one, and all I could think about was how sore the actors' throats must have been from all that screaming. :D. I would like to see Mad Max, though.

Avoid Jupiter Ascending. Very bad movie, we didn't even finish watching it.

Jupiter Ascending was terrible. But it was also the best theater experience I've ever had.

We went to see it because we knew it was so bad, and we couldn't stop laughing.

I love how their idea of 'worldbuilding' was to just constantly shove irrelevant information in the faces of the audience and then never bring it up again.

It's a shame, because the movie's style was fantastic. A visually gorgeous movie in general, wasted on a terrible storyline.

Saw "The Gunman" yesterday.

Not bad - and definitely better than the rating on imdb would suggest.

Intense action starring Sean Penn as ex-mercenary, apart from some smaller logic gaps and some scenes at an ocean aquarium (you only see empty tanks) and a bullfighting ring (part of the movie took place in Spain).

On the plus side, the villain is gored to death at the bull ring by a rampaging bull. Some, albeit small, kind of karma.

Best regards,
Andy

Managed to watch "Home" with my kids yesterday, after wanting to see it for a long time due to positive critiques.

It had been touted to be positive, edifying, family-friendly entertainment.

I did, however, not at all like the movie.
It was, again, the very repetitive "Stupid-aliens-invade-earth-and-are-shown-true-humanity-by-humans-and-repent-and-change-their-ways" cliche, with the only redeeming feature that the 13-year-old heroine happened to be a person of colour.

Watching it, I was not at all surprised to learn it was made by the same team that had already made "The Croods", which, in my personal opinion, is The.Worst.Cartoon.Ever. (especially if you happen to be vegan).

Avoid, if you can.

Oh, I am very intrigued now! Must watch it.
