He looks like my dad when he was young, so I always like Colin Firth. :)

Here's a pic of my dad in his mid thirties. The blondie is me. :)

Watched "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" with my kids (11&12) yesterday.

They definitely loved it, and it was great to watch it again :)

I have watched it oodles of times, with my ex husband, my children at various periods of their childhood and with CG. Always makes us all laugh even though we could virtually recite the dialogue off by heart...or perhaps the joy of it???

A masterpiece of silliness

Shyvas, any comments on that movie?
Whether it was good, whether you liked it, why?

I initially chose to watch the film because both Melvyn Douglas and Gene Hackman were both starring. My choice of films depends very largely on who the actors are.

The story is about an old man ( Melvyn Douglas) who's life is ending and the complicated relationship he has with his son. Douglas's acting is so remarkable that it is hard to concentrate on the other actors.
It is one of those films on human relationships that everyone should watch at least once. I enjoyed it mainly because the leading actors were brilliant and the theme ( about death and difficult relationships) touched me in many ways.

The last sentence that Gene Hackman says ' Death ends a life but not a relationship'.

I watched a horror film called It Follows yesterday. It Follows - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I read that it was meant to be very scary but I didn't find it that frightening, although I thought it was an original concept.

When I woke up at 3.30 this morning to let the dog into the dark garden I have to admit that I did flashback to the more scary bits of the film.:p

I was going to watch this as I heard it had a slightly decent plot but then someone gave away the ending in one of the reviews. :sigh:

Yesterday I watched Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day. I never read the book it was based on, but I assume that, like most books adapted to movies, the book is better than the movie. The movie was just okay, nothing special, not really memorable. It’s possible that the tweens this movie is aimed at would like it better than I did. (BTW, it features Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner as Alexander’s parents. Their performances, unfortunately, were kind of cartoonish and one-dimensional.)

Okay, I have woken up and been scared by It Follows the last few nights so it was more scary that I gave it credit for.

Sharknado 3 is on tomorrow tonight. I hope it lives up to the high standards of the first two films.:p

Annoying! Somebody did that to me with the ending of Fight Club.

Devil's Knot.

Devil's Knot (2013) - IMDb

Based on a true story of the murder of 3 young boys.

Colin Firth seemed out of place in his role as an investigator. It's the first time that I have heard him act with an American accent which didn't sound authentic.
I have seen this story on the Crime Investigation channel and it is a most disturbing crime. One of the scenes where the 3 little ones are found is just horrifying.

True story of 'Satanic murders' which inspired Colin Firth's 'deeply disturbing' new film Devil's Knot - Mirror Online

^ I saw that film and it was horrible!:( I wish I hadn't found out about that awful crime.

I saw Sharknado 3 and it was quite funny.
