TV & Film Movie Lounge

I can't tell what movie that is...it shows as "unsupported video" and I don't see a title.

Just watched Lawrence Of Arabia. I saw it just once before, in 1969. It reinforces my belief that wars are led by wackadoodles.

I guess Spotlight is a movie to watch out for, after the Oscars celebration...

Had not heard about that one before, but definitely looks interesting.

As a former Roman Catholic, I have strange feelings about the child molestation scandals. It's like, you have negative feelings about a group of people. Then you find out they are even worse than you believed. It's kind of mind boggling.

I'm glad I got out before all these sex scandals came to light.

Wow, you must have gotten out early ... Roman Catholic child molestation unfortunately goes back a long way...
"Sex scandal" is a word I would rather associate with Clinton&Lewinsky, not with what happened here...

It was around 1969 or 1970. I left because I thought the RC Church's teachings about sex were crazy; that its teachings about birth control were a formula for massive starvation in the Third World; that what went on during the Middle Ages/Reformation period was corrupt and disgraceful (the Borgia popes, etc.); that the willingness to censor books, thought and science (e.g., Galileo) was an abomination, and on and on and on.

True, but it was not widely known. The first thing I think I read about this was the book Lead Us Not Into Temptation: Catholic Priests and the Sexual Abuse of Children. That was published in 1992, and based on the scandal the author discovered in 1984. So these revelations are fairly recent.

I'll let you choose a better phrase to describe this if you want.

Never Let Me Go. I hadn't heard of this movie until I watched it. It was pretty good. I recommend it if you want something dramatic that isn't filled with explosions and special effects, but the subject matter can be a little dark.

The story would also appeal to me. I've never heard of this film neither.

There are so many films to watch but it seems like they always repeat the same old ones on the TV.
