TV & Film Movie Lounge

^^^ Gah- quite a few people did not live happily ever after....

They found out it's not nice to fool around with Mother Nature. (How many people remember those margarine commercials? The ad writers would probably be miffed that I forget the brand of margarine being advertized... "Chiffon" maybe?)

I saw "The Big Short", which was pretty good, and "The Peanuts Movie".

The first movie was a very interesting docu-drama with great actors on the "Subprime mortgage crisis", the 2008 collapse of the US housing market (and subsequently the economies of some European Countries).

The Peanuts movie is great family fun. Although my kids so far had not heard much of the peanuts, they really enjoyed the movie. Those who know the background of the series IMO enjoyed it even more...

Deadpool was awesome! So R rated and funny. I laughed, I cried (from laughing) and I was surprised by my memory of 90s female rap music lyrics. Two after credits.

Tried watching The Grand Budapest Hotel, but couldn't get into it. I guess it's one of those movies you really have to pay close attention to, which I admit I wasn't. I was multitasking. :P

I am horrible about paying attention to movies at home. I am normally doing so many other things that I am just in my own world.

Showed the first Indiana Jones to my kids (11 & 12).

At some points during the movie, they were screaming at me that it was too graphic and why I had made them watch such a horrible movie.

Surprised me a bit after they did not have any problem with watching the last one (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal skull) , e.g. where the bad guys get eaten by the ants (but that was one where they had wanted to see it and we, as parents, were sceptical)

Divergent. Better than expected. I thought it was going to be one of those where they all had special powers, which I hate. I was happy to see it wasn't that at all, just your typical teen dystopian movie. :D

We took the kids to the last of the Hunger Games movies: Mockingjay Part 2. It was pretty good, lots of action and things I had forgotten since reading it a while ago. I still didn't like the ending. So lame after all the exciting stuff. :D

Insurgent. I liked it. It had it's flaws and plot holes but it wasn't as bad as a lot of sequels are.

I never read the books, but I heard a lot was left out and/or changed.

I have enjoyed the Divergent movies. I just saw that the new one is coming out this year. I don't remember the exact date. That is one series I have not read the books yet.

Oh, there'll be another one? Maybe more?
Had the impression they would be done after the last one, from the way the ending played out ....
