Laugh out loud funny at times.

Deadpool (2016) - Rotten Tomatoes
Since Jerry bought the DVD, I've been obsessed.... Probably watched it a dozen times by now, at least. LOL

**sigh** Wade Wilson, mmmmm.... :smitten::drool: I love sassy avocados. LMFAO

And the movie would not have been made were it not for Ryan Reynolds' insistence & diligence & the short he made himself! Deadpool needed to be redeemed after that previous BS where they sewed closed the mouth of The Merc with the Mouth!! :fp: Awesome work, Ryan!! :D (There's actually a quick shot right before he holds up Wham! of the sh*tty Deadpool action figure. LOL)

I saw 10 Cloverfield Lane last week too. It was quite tense and interesting, but the ending let it down.:hmm:

Took the kids to see Independence Day Resurgence. It was a good action movie for a hot afternoon. The kids hadn't even seen the first one though! Of course they weren't even born when it came out! :D

I've been binging on movies this past week: Mustang, Palm Trees in the Snow, Talulah

My (omni) son showed me a trailer of an upcoming cartoon movie today: "Sausage Party".

To cut the long story short, the idea of the movie is that food is alive and does not want to be eaten. Sausages with little arms and legs, eyes and ears discuss what they can do in order not to get eaten. He found it funny.

My initial reaction was that I would have loved to address the people who made this cartoon, and bang their heads together and shout at them "What the F**** is wrong with your heads, people???? YES, your 'food'was alive. But it is NOT sausages with tiny arms and legs, and also not a half-eaten pizza slice that shouts 'You MONSTER ... you bit off my legs!!!'. No, your food that was alive and did not want to be killed were the calf that was killed so you could drink its milk or the pig that was slaughtered so you could indulge in your nasty meat habit!!! Do you even begin to fathom how offensive this idiocy is to anybody who does not consider animals as food????"

But, I guess, if I did that, people would consider me an 'extremist' vegan and shake their heads about my hostility... Sigh.

Got through the first half of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (again) this evening.... I forgot how much I enjoy it. The glorious ultra-retro & sci-fi-ness of it all, and the positively gorgeous coloring & the LIGHTING... what a super fun flick!! If you dig that stuff & haven't checked it out yet, do so. Plus, Jude Law is yummy. LOL, here's an '04 trailer....

Oh yeah, that one!

Remember having seen - end somehow enjoyed - it some time ago, but can't recall anything about the plot.

Have you seen "Porco Rosso" yet?

Think it might be similar, with likely a much more complex plot...

Sky Captain is pretty weak on plot.... quite the visual treat, though. :) And I had NOT heard of Porco Rosso.... it looks cute & kinda creepy... I'll see if I can check it out. Thanks for the rec! ;)

@MadamSarcastra , have you seen other Hayao Miyazaki / Studio Ghibli animation movies?

E.g. Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, Howl's Moving Castle?

They are quite enjoyable, and many of them do feature steampunk air pirates or similar. Definitely worth checking out....
