It does not hurt one's resume to have been nominated to SCOTUS, whether or not confirmation occurs, especially if confirmation is blocked for purely political reasons.

If the Democrats win the WH again this year, the Republicans will have painted themselves into a corner. Of course, theoretically they can continue to refuse to consider anyone nominated by a Democratic President.
