News Plant Based/Vegan

Andrew Garner

Want to help create institutional change?

I am looking for people who work or have connections in Hospitals, schools, prisons, airlines, companies anything that has an impact on society and requires food to be on site.
It doesn't matter how big or small a workplace is, we want to work with you to incorporate plant foods in your workplace. This could be plant-based menus or plant milk/plant meal by default as an example.

Just imagine the impact if you could get a hospital a school or a workplace to have a plant-based option by default.
New York City Mayor did this recently in all hospitals in New York where it is a plant-based meal by default unless you request otherwise. 60/70% kept the plant-based meal!
If this interests you, please email me at andrew@plantbasedtreaty.org

This is terrific. I love pb cups. been getting the dark chocolate ones at TJ. Not even positive they are vegan. I would get Jason's - but they are too pricey.
Another treat I have missed! This is indeed great news. I tried a vegan brand, but it was made with sunflower seeds or something, and it was OK but not great. I'm going to try that recipe Emma posted (I think it was Emma, lol).

Trader Joes has sunflower butter cups. They are Good. but they are expensive.
Jason makes vegan PB cups. Also very good. but they are expensive too,

And although regular Reeses PB cups are cheap (and not vegan) they have way more added sugar than Jason or TJs

Yeppers, I should try. making some too. I really do like them a lot. They can't be too hard. You have to buy those candy molds, tho.
Oh wait, I think I have some cupcake liners left over from something else.

I wonder if anyone will ever make a vegan malted milk ball. Those used to be my favorites.

I loved those, too! That was my favorite Easter candy. :)

Why make them, when you can just eat peanutbutter with chocolate.... Unless you have guest over, of course.

it's really hard putting the peanut butter on individual chocolate chips

I think it is because in my mind peanut butter sitting in the fridge is a breakfast food for toast whilst peanut butter cups, sitting in the fridge, are dessert.

I'll need to experiment with brands or types of peanut butter and chocolate bars.

I'm thinking a creamy PB spread on a chocolate bar.
maybe make it a pb sandwich but with chocolate bars

Has anyone done this? what works?

the challenge with the sandwich idea is that the peanut butter will just ooze out all over the place - when you make the pb cups you put in powdered sugar and a bit of salt which acts as a binder and so it all stay nicely enclosed in the chocolate - also you will eat a lot more chocolate and a lot more peanut butter - I am able to limit my dessert to just one pb cup and since the recipe made 12 that is 6 nights of desserts and all that pb and chocolate spread out over the 6 nights

LOL. I sometimes will mix a tablespoon or so of chocolate chips with peanut butter and then put on a couple of Dandies marshmallows and nuke it for like 10 seconds. It's a wicked sweet treat that takes care of my sugar craving. That said, I love the idea of making the peanut butter cups.

Noooo .....
Homemade Reeses, or buckeyes, are candy. Spreading PB on a chocolate bar is -- PB spread on a chocolate bar 🙄
Candy pb cups have pb fluffed up with powdered sugar. They're coated with just the right layer of chocolate. texture and taste are very different.
I would compare it to saying raw apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon is just like an apple pie
