Health Issues The Everything Covid 19 Thread

Nice to hear that, for sure the benefit of sewing your own stuff is that you can get creative with the fabric instead of being confined to conventions. Considering that this situation isn't gonna end any time soon you might as well look into getting a sewing machine as it'll open up a ton of fun :)

I used to sew many many years ago! I have thought about getting a simple sewing machine several times mainly for the hemming of pants as I am so short! :)

I too can relate to this, for I have had to reduce the length of a pair of pants many times, it's one of shortcomings of being short

Though a basic sewing machine would suit this particular task well enough, if you happen to want to really get back into sewing and try out creative and fun activities, such as making basic clothing & upholstery etc., you may want to look into buying a slightly more expensive machine, as they're usually quieter and easier to use.

I have to do bath tub / sink laundry tomorrow. Yes, I could go to the laundromat. But I don't see the point in taking the risk when there's an alternative. It saves money too.

It's just kind of annoying and time-consuming. You have to keep washing and rinsing the clothes, hang them to dry, make sure they won't drip on the floor too much, and then give the tub a thorough cleaning.

I did this twice when I was living at my sister in law’s and it was torture. But I didn’t want to risk the laundromat when covid first started. And heck yes, as someone who is spoiled and has always had a washer/dryer, I couldn’t believe how expensive the laundromat was!

This is the one I picked up from Amazon a few weeks ago and it works fine for masks and things like hemming etc. Very simple.

Mine is a bit different from this one.

You may have noticed a headline on CNN today talking about the all the other symptoms that are manifesting other than just respiratory ones.

I have been following MedCram on Youtube and it is so fascinating. He has basically concluded (so far) as they did in the article on CNN that it is actually a blood vessel (thrombosis) disease and so it attacks all areas of the body including the lungs. The doctor does go into detailed chemistry and biology details and for anyone who likes detail I encourage you to watch. So because it is an "over clotting" problem he is saying that NAC n-acetyl cysteine (which you can buy as a supplement) may be helpful if you get Covid. I am going to see if I can find some next time I am out, otherwise I will get it online from a high quality producer.

ps if you watch his videos you will be able to discuss "von Willebrand Factor" with confidence :weird:

I'll be darned! I bought NAC after some research, thinking why not try things that wouldn't hurt? I do have asthma and allergies and it's also touted to help those. @Val also takes it.
I still do vinegar water with tumeric every morning, tumeric is thought to be good against it, it's anti inflammatory
I do believe the best defense is a wfpb diet

I bought one that looks just like that from Aldi, and it sat in the closet till I wanted to make masks! I got it with the intention of making covers for cat beds, pillows, and window coverings  . I did at least make a couple masks ok! The bobbin threads got really bad on the third one, and I have no idea what to do

That's right, i'm trying to treat COPD with turmeric&pepper cocktail only, when the symptoms are mild,- but when it gets worse, i take acethylcysteine and even pills with anaesthetic. Pretty helpful against nasty COPD symptoms. I do hope though, that i won't have to use ACC against anything else.😁

Interesting about the blood vessel/clot thing. I have the MTHFR gene mutation (hyperhomocysteinemia) and told to take folate. Blood clots also run in my family on my mom’s side. Maybe I should start supplementing again.
I also keep reading about how Covid19 causes severe drops in oxygen levels, even in those who are not experiencing shortness of breath. It is what’s so scary about it...how it robs the body of oxygen.

That is very inexpensive but it isn't heavy duty enough for heavier fabrics like denim which I would need for hemming jeans. There is probably something a little sturdier though for a bit more money. I will look around.

What got you to find out? Homocysteine levels or other?
You also take methylcobalimin? Like this-https://www.amazon.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Pyridoxal-5-phosphate-Lozenges-Supports/dp/B01IJR5VM2/ref=sr_1_5?crid=AG086PNGO528&dchild=1&keywords=jarrow+methyl+b-12+%26+methyl+folate&qid=1589410474&sprefix=jarrow+methy%2Caps%2C190&sr=8-5

Good luck now! I used to see sewing machines for so cheap, I looked on fb marketplace and the prices have soared- and few. I bet if you wait they'll be around the Goodwill and garage sales!

My sister was having some blood issues and was going for infusions. She tested positive for hyperhomosystenemia and was told it was hereditary. So my doctor tested me. My grandmother had a stroke at 42 and died from complications, my mom had a stroke in her late 40’s (recovered) and my sister had a blood clot in her leg a few years ago.

Why did you mention methylcobalamin? (I take it either, even at the moment).
