TV & Film The TV Room

@KLS52 Huh. Fantasy is a favorite genre of mine, but somehow I hadn't even heard of The Good Witch. I suppose it's because my television hasn't been that functional since broadcasting went digital. I remember the exact moment it happened: the news had been reporting about the upcoming switchover, and although my TV can be set to accept digital input, I hadn't even bothered to get a digital antenna. One moment: some sort of footrace; the next: snow... and silence (except for maybe a low, staticky hiss.
Well, it's a Hallmark show so unless you are into that stuff, it could easily have gone under your radar.

And it looks like the Good Witch is not in my immediate future. The TV show requires a Hallmark Channel membership. And the movies are all VOD - so there are ads you have to watch.

So I started the Discovery of Witches last night. So far it's ok. I'll watch at least one or two more episodes.

I was browsing YouTube this morning and they sent me a short with a clip from a Disney show called Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. It is very much a rip off or a homage to Doogie Hauser. This Doogie is a teenage girl and lives in Hawaii. I've been looking for a show I can watch at lunch time - and this may be it. Hawaii itself appears to be the costar in this show. And the show is filled with stereotypes of Hawaiians. but I think they got it right. Anyway - entertaining,

Looked it up on IMDB and in the trivia section I was surprised to learn that a lot of the first episode of Kamealoha is a re-telling of the first episode of Howser. Even using many of the same lines.

The Lincoln Lawyer finale was good.

Then we watched the new The Penguin and now are watching a Netflix show called Sweet Bobby. It is about a catfish incident.

back to The Resident for us - I am getting a bit tired of how awful the hospitals are being portrayed - if the portrayals are even remotely true it is terrifying...

The healthcare system in the US is pretty terrifying! I am sure the show exaggerated for drama but there is corruption for sure.

Pride and prejudice. Lizzy is just warming to Darcy who is turning out to be a likeable person after all.
Which Pride and Prejudice?
I can only think of three films but I'm sure there are more. I like the 1995 tv series best.

I liked the films better than the book. ( which I read 2 - 3 times) The thing about the films is that with my limited knowledge base my imagination could not envision the gowns and the carriages adequately. The films really helped with that.

There are also so many adaptions. My favorite is Lost in Austen.

I also like the Red Dwarf episode with the virtual reality machine.

I'm watching American football all day today. :) I've also been revisiting Republic of Doyle, one of my all-time favorite series.

I am very partial to Republic of Doyle also... we listened to a lot of music on YouTube yesterday afternoon and evening and this video popped up for the second time and I thought I would share this classic song, now showing the animals we have lost along the way...

Enjoy!

let us know what you think. I'm intrigued but I don't like scary movies.
We liked it, although it reminded me of another film I've seen before. I think that was set in Scotland. My husband didn't remember the film I meant. It is more of a thriller rather than a horror.

Watched the final two episodes of The Undoing. Annoying way to end the show!

Now we are onto the second season of The Diplomat.
